Who's got a frag tank?

Our frag tank…..refugium chamber in the sump
I just got the JBJ frag tank from @dontavo27 so I’m going to drill out for a sump and then I’ll set it up. Just need to find a place for it.
That's what got me thinking when he offered the free JBJ frag tank. Can I actually set up a small frag tank like 10-15g? That way I can declutter my sand bed in the DT. But I want to set it up like your sump frag tank, so I don't need extra ATO, pump, skimmer, etc.
But I don't know if I can make it clean enough or just adding too much complexity to the main tank, which I feel like I can barely keep up with.
You can treat any size tank as a frag tank, even an open portion of a sump will work. Being able to tie into an existing system makes it easier for fresh cuts, etc, as they aren’t being stressed by completely different parameters. There are plenty of cheap, budget friendly lights that would work as well. You can even use a small container suspended above the sump that’s fed from a small pump and a single drain if you have the space? I isolated a number of clams in a small plastic container when I was battling pyramid snails. I used a Kessil a80 directly above the clams and it was more than enough to keep them healthy and growing.
I’m setting up the jbj as an isolated system to QT new clams, otherwise, I probably would attach it to another tank in order to gain water volume.

Old pic and something a bit more recent from the front of mine. I had a small one made a few years ago. It's about 30x16x8 with 2 drain lines. It's worked ok but if I had to do it all over again I'd go deeper since there's dead zones in terms of flow under the large frag rack that I have in there.
I'm using braided vinyl tubing to and from my display sump 2 feet away. I have a lot of slack in the lines so I could pull the tank away from the wall in case I needed to to work on it, but that also provides a challenge in itself with periodic semi-clogging. The braided lines also sometimes crease since I'm threading in the back of a Red Sea tank that has barely enough room to make it back into the sump. Not the cleanest but it was my first frag setup so I didn't know what I was doing.
My main goal was to not give myself double the work in terms of water testing and management, which this does accomplish.
Single Hydra 26 running on it but I've used cheap Amazon lights too with success.

Yes, I'm with you, I don't want additional testing or ATO. Seems like just a lot of work.
