This is probably small potatoes, but dish is producing baby brine. Pretty fun and neat.

No, I didn't seal it. Is that a thing to seal a print?

If it works well, I may just buy the dish retail.

I've never seen where the phyto overflow into pods.

Yes filament prints are porous even if 100% infill. So if you have some vertical walls to hold water (like a cup) then you'll need to coat the inside with something.

Really? I was told BBS is nutritious and great for feeding. I thought it'll be a feeding frenzy when I dump them into the tank, and the fish will go nuts. And it'll be good for the reef. When you say dirty, what does that mean? Like lots of nitrates? Or are you talking about the egg shell if not removed?

Rotifers look much more involved. Needing a phyto setup basically. I'm not sure I have enough time and devotion to keep the culture going.

The usual advise is to feed bbs within 12-24 hours from hatching. The main nutrition part are the egg yolks still inside them at hatch. Past that, the yolk is gone.

Some add Selcon and/or spirulina for a bit before feeding or do that for older than 24 hr post hatches.

I'm not breeding anything. Just want to feed a nice nutrition snack to the fishes. I don't need a lot of brine, so it's probably perfect for me. And I can switch between the 2 dishes.

Not sure if the corals can eat it. But it's a nice skill to have if I do need to breed something. I think my clowns are paired up. And my mandarins might be heading in that direction once the tiny captive raised mandarin grows bigger.

Yeah just good to have some experience before it's truly needed.

If asking about corals eating bbs, yep they do. They're not good at catching them. It seems most of the time, the bbs simply float over or around the corals. Even in the lowest flow, I'd watch a bbs float directly towards a hammer only to slowly rise and float on by over it. Shutting off all flow helps the corals capture more of them. Spot feeding with pipette would be effective than pouring in tank.

The exception are the gorgonians. They seem really good at capturing them. even in high flow with the bbs zipping around.

Noticed something interesting after a week of cooler weather. Nights dropped to 54-65. No heater. Brine shrimps just fine.

The phyto... exploded? The tubs turned much darker green. Didn't dose or anything. I was worrying about the drop in temps negatively affecting the phyto but seems they loved it instead...?

Not really seeing any new babies in the tub with adult brine shrimps. Floating eggs are start to build up even more around the edges, though. Idk if the adults eat the babies or they're a strain with a strong lean towards dormant type of eggs. Was hoping to see constant production from this culture but starting to think maybe that won't happen.

The dish produces too little bbs to sell. It’s only good for a tiny snack on 1 tank here and there, but it’s also super easy.

I would need to upgrade to a 2L setup if I want more.
