Any leopard wrasse is a gamble. If thats the fish I wanted I'd take the risk with it rather than missing out on it. Worth the gamble because they don't come around too often. And simply waiting for it to eat at retailer there's also a possibility that someone else buys it before you do. At least you get a crack at trying to make it work.
Yeah. I mean, for $160, it's an OK price for a gamble. I've had my turn and wouldn't try my luck again, but I don't see a fish like this thrive much in an LFS without the proper environment. Diver's Den sells these for $300 already conditioned, so you'd save $140 if you can get it to eat and survive. It's a good deal for the experienced aquarist.

I've never had to many problems with leopard wrasses.. My blue star leopard and leopard wrasse eat frozen, pellets and flakes, on top of that when lights turn on they are already swimming around..

Choati is the most sensitive fish I've ever kept. It truly requires patience and persistence. It needs a natural environment right away. All that said, it's one of my favorite fish and its personality is well worth it. I'd get this one, but already have one.

Bump for the homie. I can vouch for how healthy and how well All Delight fish do. I bought a sweet gem of a fish from Darrell a while back and it's still doing amazingly well ; )
Thanks! Glad it's doing well. Super nice fish.

It's a great article but it's easier said then done. I was about to pm you about a choati, until I saw mine! Seriously have had it for 2 months and have only seen it come out on its own twice. First time during the day was today. I tried to put it in my sumps refugium because it sounded perfect with a reverse light schedule, no sand, and pods. Then once I put it in the dt it was gone until today. Anyway, great price and good luck to the buyers. I'm just glad they are starting to be more available
Sounds like you're off to a good start.

I'd be really careful quarantining a fish this sensitive. I've quarantined a Kuiter wrasse I've had in the past and in retrospect, I felt it would have done a lot better in a more natural environment than in a QT tank with sand. As long as there is no aggression in your main tank, I'd probably put it in directly, given they are so sensitive. But that's just my experience.

I've bought a Chaoti that was eating from an LFS, put it in my tank directly, it swam around the minute it was in the tank, and then during lights out it disappeared and never showed up again. So they're very sensitive creatures. Good luck! They are beautiful, however!
Agreed.

LOL So true. There's someone always willing to gamble. Almost forces you to gamble as well. Unless you hit the lottery and find someone wiling to sell theirs. Like jesuses but I bet he wouldn't sell his for $300.

I used to be that way with hot pink yumas 10 years ago. LFS would get them in, I'd buy them immediately. They gape and die. After losing a handful of them, I'd always go back a week later and it never failed they were always sold. Forced me to gamble again and buy them when the opportunity was there.
