So at the beginning of the year I was dealing with heavy metals from a failed M1 vectra. I used Seachem Cuprisorb and activate carbon to get as much of the metals out. I went through 1500ml of media. Well seachem states it can be recharged so I saved the media in five gal bucket and dried it out. Today I needed a bucket so I thought I’ll dump that cuprisorb in a bag until I want to try to recharge it. Well when I went to shake the media to see if it was dry I was horrified at what I found. At the bottom of the bucket there was so much rust dust. It even stuck to a magnet.

Damn! That came out of the vectra pump? Did the shaft disintegrate or what?

No it was the body. There was a hairline crack on the inside of the impeller hole. So that rust was just getting pumped thought that media and to the tank.
