Fans are such a simple solution to reducing a few degrees but DAMN does it evaporate water! If you don't have AC buy a used chiller. Losing corals is way more expensive than a chiller. If you have central AC set it on auto for room temp atleast even when not home. As for electric bill...bite the bullet, we didn't get into this hobby to worry about electric bill! IT CAN BE COSTLY TO BE CHEAP IN THIS HOBBY!

Solar is the way to go here in the IE! 2 central air ACs one upstairs one downstairs and a whole house fan. Nest thermostats set at 68 and I’m paying Edison $17 bucks to “stay on their grid” and their paying me almost as much as the solar panels payment for the extra electricity I’m producing every month.

Fortunately the humidity for this heat wave is low. One medium fan blowing across the sump in garage is enough to keep the tank below 80. I dread the heat wave with high humidity.

What's a good solar company to choose from?

I went with SemperSolar. There are a lot of great options out there. I chose them because they had great reviews and because I’m an active duty Marine I also got some discounts. Recommend you do your research for what fits your power requirements and your budget.

Well my chiller decided to be an object of disgust. Ordered temp. probes from Amazon, be here tomorrow. If not they get sent back. If I remove it from the reservoir it actually kicks on and runs for several seconds longer exposed to the air than when it’s in.
The condenser kicks on then shuts down within seconds then tries to restart but can’t. Any suggestions? If I could figure how to bypass it so the chiller stayed on, I’d by an external temperature probe. Might be easier to buy an AC unit for my garage. Power consumption can be any worse. Dumb reef tank no one would buy. I blame you people.
Funny how things fail when you need them.

I couldnt beat the heat. My tank is normally at 76 and it reached 83 over the last couple days. Nothing pissed or dead so I'll call it a win
