Hi sharing my experience with this vendor and asking for your guys opinions here, so I had messaged them for a sun god torch they had on their eBay page, told me they’re out of singles and only had a double. Price was ok for it really wanted the single more but the selling point was one of the heads was slightly pinching. They sweeten the deal a bit more by saying they’ll throw in a freebie if I get it. Sold, placed the order and waiting for the shipping info. Next day comes around and no update , msg them if it was shipped and nope they forgot to ship it out. Had to bug them to get it shipped out for a week till I finally got the tracking info. Already off to a bad start.
Order came in, bag was a bit warm but corals were fine. I noticed my supposed and label three head sun god was single pinched head and the freebie was double hologram hammer. I messaged them that they shipped me a single and I was told I’d get a triple head , excuse come from there end but apparently the double head hammer was to make up the cost. I thought it was the freebie to sweeten the deal?? Told them I’m not too happy with this and their solution was either they send me another single sun god but I cover the shipping again, refund of $80 ( a single head sungod on their website goes for 120) or I find a way to ship it back for a full refund… took the refund of 80 even tho I felt that was still on the low end. Was I scammed here?? Really feels like I was baited and switched.
should I share this on R2r as well? I know that’s were they mostly post their stuff on
Future buyers please purchase with caution from them, I did see on they’re eBay page after with a few other buyers with similar experiences
What do you guys think? I have all message to prove it in case they want to chime in here as well .

I wouldn’t say scammed, but for sure ripped off. They sent what you didn’t order. You should be taking no loss in that situation

So you paid shipping twice but didn't get what you wanted? It sounds like that's what you're saying. If so, I would be pretty bummed out if I was in your shoes. Just to add a little more insult, It was really about your time. Your time is expensive, that cost more than shipping. There must have been something more going on behind the scenes. I'm almost positive they tried everything they can to fulfill your order but somehow failed. Seems like of weird because they're cool people. I would definitely try talking to him in person to see what they have to say. It's likely that he's going to want to take care of you in some way. Just let him know how you feel. Hopefully, it was just some kind of mishap. You know how it is, you never know what people are going through in their lives. They could have been dealing with some kind of hardship that made the situation worst as the days went on. Maybe that's why they couldn't get back to you in a timely manner. People typically don't like to share their personal side of things, especially when it's relative to a bad situation nor is it really our business to begin with. Those guys are brothers and I believe that they are good people so I would try talking with them again on a friendly basis and see what they have to say. I think they're going to be at the OC Coral show

I’m one to understand that things happen but from even a business point wouldn’t it be better to just inform the buyer things happened and to offer a refund or exchange instead of just sending them items they didn’t agree to? Also the fact he upped me on a double when I wanted a single first but they were out of singles, just to send me a single in the end when they were supposedly out of.
I didn’t pay for shipping twice, one of the vendors offers was I provide a label to get another single they supposedly still have.
I can post the conversation we had if it helps, always appreciate the opinions. Just want to know if what they did is typical among other vendors

Do you know them personally? Otherwise, that seems like a weird response to poor customer service. If you're running a business, communication is key, otherwise you're just wasting people's/customer's time and that's not good for business. From the OP's info, doesn't seem like they really wanted to make it right, but offered a less than generous solution. I honestly wouldn't order animals/corals from ebay, there are too many LFS in SoCal that have a good selection of corals, if not, there are more reputable vendors online to order from. And if you can't find things in any LFS, just post a wanted post here and I'm sure someone will have what you want or know someone who has it. Also, that torch online is much more from different vendors, which makes that deal a little suspicious?

Ahhh, well please forgive me for not know better and commenting. I was reading the post a bit too quickly. Yeah, they definitely should have told you what was gong on as soon as they found out the next day. The following day of payment should of been the day they found out whether or not there is some kind of problem. You can even say that they should have known about the problem, if there was any, before the payment was even made. It's like how do you not know what's going on with your situation at any given time, you should.

I think the main problem was that the story changed from first not having any singles then sending a single and a possible solution by means of another single when the upsell was supposed be because there was no single to begin with but now somehow there are 2 singles available. The 1 part the I got a little confused about was when you were talking about the pinched head then later referring to a triple head instead of a double head with one of the heads pinching. I don't do torches but the pinched head sounds almost like you're saying that it's about to split. If so, doesn't it still count as a double head with one of the heads being pinched instead of triple?

If I'm understanding this correctly, you're saying that you got half of what you ordered. I don't mean to get too technical but if I can ask, did you pay 120 for each torch head, so that's 240 for everything including the freebie? If so, they should have offered you 120 for not getting what you paid for. The reason why I ask is because sometimes the person will lower the price if you get more than 1 polyp or head and since you got 2 of them, I was wondering if he lowered the price at all. Just curious. Yeah, that was lame excuse to use the double head hammer as a way to make up for the shadiness. It's a, "Hey, I'm shady but look at what I did to make up for it" kind of situation. I completely understand. With that said, let me know what I can do to help squash this. I don't know them well but I can talk to them.

Not really, I met them a few times and seemed like cool people. I realize now, my focus was in the wrong place. It should of been more about what happened once the package arrived and how they responded to the problem. I was just trying to squash the beef.

If they don't have the item, don't say they do and ship something else.

Doesn't matter what goes on behind the scenes or if they are going through something.

They knew exactly what they were doing and did it. To top it off, they didn't even make it right. They couldn't care any less.

I know them personally they are both cool people nonetheless customer satisfaction is Paramount, also when you agreed to take the $80 that should have ended the deal.

If I were you, I would meet them personally at the show and confront them, I’m sure they would help you out, even though deal was ended.

I would get your partial refund, leave an honest review of the situation on R2R, and just move on. And never buy from the vendor again. That's how I usually deal with my bad experiences. I do the same for great experiences too, I love to leave great feedback and let others know of honest and good vendors. And when people ask for recommendations, I always steer them to folks that have been good experiences. But I don't waste my time on bad vendors, you might get me once, but I'm not going back for seconds...no matter how good of a deal it is.

all good man, it’s 120 a head so yea it be 240 for the clearly separated heads but main reason I got it was because one of the heads was splitting. So yea I guess u can say I got have of what I originally ordered. The double hammer was suppose to be a freebie, even tho it’s generous as a freebie, it’s not what I wanted originally and not there was no discount for it.
I mean if you’re able to get a hold of them better since they stopped answering my text messages. Just want to get what I paid for originally without the whole cover another shipping fee or partial refund

Originally I wasn’t going for the refund I asked them first to send me another head to make up for one of the missing heads. Only chose the partial refund since it’s the only option they gave without having to spend more money on this order that wasn’t my fault to begin with. Wouldn’t make sense to drop more money onto it
Im in ventura, can’t really make a drive to Anaheim just to confront and chance on possible resolve on it. If they’re going to the van nuys coral show, I will but can’t justify it for the other one
