OF/Chino Hills

My name is Paul Voth, I was raised in Hacienda Heights and I now live in Chino Hills.

I'm 38 years old, married to the love of my life, (Dahlia) and have two boys, Austin and Ashton. I graduated from Los Altos High School. I played a lot of sports growing up including hockey, football and baseball. When I turned eighteen, I took my love for hockey and got a tryout for a junior hockey team in Indiana (Indianapolis Junior Ice), there I played two years and I ended up attending University Of Wisconsin- Steven Point. During my sophomore year we won the National Championship. After college I tried the semi pro thing in St. Louis and Louisville, Kentucky, but ended up getting hurt. I drove back to Cali to start my career, where I currently work, Paramount Petroleum. I have been there for over fifteen years, and if I am not home, I am at the refinery.

My love for aquariums started when I was sixteen and my mom’s friend gave me a 30 gallon filled with Tiger Barbs. I then graduated to a sixty gallon and got the outrageous idea to make it saltwater, and then the craziness began. My grandmother lived across the street from Huntington Beach, so I was there every chance I could get, either in the water or fishing on top of the pier. I then snagged my first shark and told myself that I could put this little guy in my aquarium, little did I know what I was doing. I figured out that a 60 gallon tank was too small, so then I got him a 100 gallon, but had to get rid of him when I left to travel across the country to play hockey. As soon as I got back and got my first check, I was off to the fish store to get another aquarium. I have had so many aquariums I can’t even count, but I loved every one of them. Now my wife let me get my dream tank, the 300, that I am currently building, which will hopefully be TOTM one day.

I want to thank my wife for putting up with this addiction, and hope one day I will turn her into a reefer. I would also like to thank SCR for the MOTM honor, it is totally cool. I have met a lot of great people in this hobby and I am even happier that I discovered this place.
