I have dosed it straight into the tank. I have read of some reports where snails were temporarily stunned after dosing but I have never observed the case.

If you are referring to lanthanum chloride, I have used it. It does make your water a bit cloudy but it dissipates after it is mixed. Brings down the phosphate levels dramatically.
