    chiller or not to chill

Mid 80's is what many coral prefer, many reefs around the world hover from 80-90. We are taking many animals from many oceans and trying to find a parameter to keep them all happy. If you keep coral that naturally grow in shallow lagoons, or shallow reefs, temps up to the high 80's is no...

Did my peppermint shrimp kill my Zoa?

I have personally witnessed 2 peppermint shrimp eat an entire min-maxi nem in about 30 minutes. I was pissed.

experiences with a magnificent foxface? Or just any fox in a reef?

Hit or miss. I have seen them eat soft coral such as zooanthids, xenia, etc. Ive also seen them in thriving reefs with no adverse affects. Can become bullies when big, but that is hit or miss as well.

What order should these fish go in?

Oh and another note. Blue spot jawfish are not tropical fish. They are from the sub-tropic and long term success means 59-69 degree water. They come from the sea of cortez( 90% of the sea IS NOT IN THE TROPICS) Yet another fish that should not be in this hobby........

What order should these fish go in?

120 is not even close to what a naso tang needs. I had a pair of Naso tangs in a 750 and it was almost not enough room. The male was over 24" long. Also trying to do a sail fin/purple /yellow combo in that tank will not end well. I hate to be the tang police, but that is way too many tangs in a...

    Red Sea

We have lots of customers who use it. I used it in combination with the colors and energy for a year and had excellent results with everything from softies to SPS. Good results from everything.

    Chiller in Window

Why not get a window AC and not use the chiller? Just chill the room so you can sit in there and enjoy it as well.

    Add to cart

This was my first thought. Then someone will start cranking up their lights as the sensor get coated. I would like to know how one is supposed to keep this clean.

    Bulletproof Fish?

If the first fish you introduced that were not QT carried some disease it may still be in your system. I don't see that you have let this tank run fallow for long enough to ensure that whatever killed the first fish isn't still in there. You need to let the system run for long enough with no...

Tank volume or total volume most important for fish

36" x 36" x 24" is not a footprint that I would put a tang in. I would go with much smaller passive fish for a tank with those dimensions.

    Watchman AWOL

Like Coelli said, YWG won't sift sand for crap. If your buddy had one that did then it was not really a YWG. It is not how they eat. Sleeper goby, or diamond goby will do the trick but they do get big and will not tolerate any other fish that live near the bottom/sand of the tank including other...

    Stupid gold assessor *grumble*

Yeah, Whenever we put them in the tanks with the blue bottoms they tend to swim upside down. As soon as I put them in the large shallow tank in the middle of the store they swim upright. I guess you could go bare bottom >.<

    Bubble Magus Check Valve Needed?

The reason the dosing pumps come with the check valves is to prevent what you are dosing from going back down the tube into the container. If the solution runs back down, the pump has to be running for a while before the solution is back to the top thereby changing the amount dosed depending on...
