Thanks man. I tested my po4 today and it looks like the last 2 tangs finally put me in the green @ .06ppm phosphate and 2.5ppm nitrate. I've been feeding like crazy to try and keep everyone mellow. Hopefully I'll get some of my tenuis to color up now.

SOB now I wanna go back to MH. that is looking wonderful
Ah she's a nice lady.

But doooooo it and don't look back. The price of LEDs are getting ridiculous, but they are getting really good. Those g5s paid for 1/2 my build. The MH setup I'm gonna run on that I found for $150 with ballasts. Just had to buy some lamps.

Current fish list:
PBrown
Scopas
Tomini
Sailfin
Pair of clowns
1.3 sunset anthias
cleaner wrasse
bangaii cardinalfish
pintail wrasse
carpenter flasher wrasse

Inverts
Gigantea anemone
pair of cleaner shrimp
misc hermits
misc snails
serpent starfish

So, who the hell is killing OR what keeps killing my peppermint shrimp? I tried one a few weeks back and it molted during the drip acclimation so I figured that was a fluke. I dropped 3 in a few days back. Saw them later that night picking at the rockwork and that was the last time I saw them.

Are my cleaner shrimps killing the peppermints off or what? My iodine was low on my last ICP but not undetectable and I dose daily, plus my cleaners are happy. Any ideas?

My gut reaction is the Pintail.

Is he big/mature enough and aggressive enough to seem like a suspect?
He's dominant over the other wrasse but by no means aggressive. The seemed to go missing overnight too and he's not all that active at that time. but I'm sure it's possible.

Has the gigentea anemone been moving on you? Tank Looks awesome btw!
The gig hasn't moved but an inch yet. Mainly just to get full light on itself. It's still so small, maybe 3" across not sure if it could have ate them or not?

Still not 100% that gig is in the clear yet. Closes a bit at night, I may have to pull the clowns. They might be stressing it with it being so small. Problem is I don't know what its color should really look like.

Just hiding really well? I put a peppermint in my last tank and he was mia for months, then one day he decided he’d post up right in the front like he had been there the entire time

the only fish I’d maybe suspect would be the bangaii. cirrhilabrus and paracheilinus are planktivores and i doubt would even be able to consume even a small peppermint. they don't have mouths with the crushing strength to take out an invertebrate like a halichoeres or something would, plus they don't eat stuff off the rockwork, that just isn't their game

cardinals on the other hand don't mind eating fairly large stuff with their big ass mouf

Could be, he pretty damn big now. I didn’t consider him but he does have the mouth for it.

Well after two days in the socialization box the chaoti has been accepted by the group. I released him nightly and had to train him to find the sand section so it could sleep. First and second day the PB and tomini were chasing him but finally they no longer care. He’s eating like a hog. Hopefully he will find the sand on his own tonight.

I didn’t realized how many starfish were in this tank until I added a harlequin pair. I came out to hundreds on the glass yesterday morning. Much less this morning but still a good amount.

Any issue with feeling like the Harlequin pair get lost in that size tank? I want a pot for the 200 but I’m afraid I won’t ever see them

So far they are hanging out right where I dropped them. I'm guessing that's because there are so many asterina they haven't really had to move much. With it being barebottom and peninsula I'm not to worried about it. I can see just about everywhere in the tank.

They are pretty large, so whatever has taken out all the peppermints I've added has left these guys alone.

dang it just instantly ate? jose holding out on some source of hungry chaotis or what :D
He had a buddy that was selling an established one, so I just got extremely lucky. I was actually loaded up at the gas station to head to see what kind of nice wrasse I could find at Harry's marine when he shot me the text. I turned right around, lol.

Yeah I'd always struggle to get any leopard through QT. I want to say that's when I started to ease off QT altogether. Very stoked I found this guy, just hope he can figure out the sand section. The first night I was able to guide him by hand but now he's stubborn as hell. So tonight and last night I've placed my phone flashlight over the sand bed to get him to check in that area.

One downside to painting the bottom white I guess, it must be messing with him.

are you doing sand in your next tank? i really love the idea of barebottom, and i've even come around to the aesthetic of it, but i can't see myself ever going without sand burying wrasses and the in between options don't seem great. letting the flow go super hard in the paint would be cool tho
