Crabs from the local rock pier

That's always a concern, which is why I don't do it myself. Plus those usually are the types of tanks that can handle hitchikers better (Mantis or FOWLR) Also why people freeze these crabs FIRST and then feed them

Crabs from the local rock pier

I know people collect shore crabs for mantis and fish food (puffers and the likes) But none who puts them to do a job. I've seen people do it with snails but they are mostly harmless

Crabs from the local rock pier

If you think emerald crabs and pithos are hit and miss, these random shore crabs will be an even bigger hit or miss. Did you see these guys eat bubble algae on the rocks? Just not sure why you would think about adding them to your tank. Snails I can understand, but I would never add a random...

Crabs from the local rock pier

Seems like a bad idea on many different levels. Our average reef tank is a lot hotter than our local waters. We might be introducing unknown pathogens into the tank Most crabs are omnivorous, and will most likely eat things that we don't want them too. Why are you willing to take a risk on...

Tank started leaking - Redsea 250

Yea definitely a common problem with Red Sea, especially its G1s. I hear it's "fixed" with G2s, but I've still heard some horror stories. People blame it on the "floating glass" design, but many rimless tank manufacturers employ this manufacturing technique without horror stories. Many people...

    WTB: Gigantea anemones

I did see a healthy one at Ali’s, he’s had it for a while, orange or red I think. Did not ask if it was on sale, but he has it in an acclimation box on the side of one of his not-showroom tanks, so it definitely didn’t seem like a not for sale item. Might be worth talking to him

    Lets go Jojo!

    Anyone silicate dosing?

Did you try this product? I've seen some good reports of it on R2R. some daily elbow grease with the bacteria afterwards apparently did wonders for many. https://3dreefing.com/products/sand-bed-uv-sweeper

    Fish for sale

Oh man, were those in the same tank? what was the previous owner thinking? these are the most disparate fish types. one suited for a typical reef (clownfish), one suited for a FOWLR (eel), and one suited for a specimen tank (seahorse). you couldn’t put together a more incompatible group of...

Looking to trade my corals for establish Fish

Did not know this, as I’ve only owned Hawaiian ones from years ago. must be because of the types of food the babies are exposed to at a young age that allows them to develop a more saturated yellow.

Looking to trade my corals for establish Fish

Just out of curiosity, is there a reason you prefer the Hawaiian wild caught vs the Biota one? Are there discernible differences?

    Fish limit in 120 gal

I can believe that. Mine was well behaved but recently the Blue throat trigger and my swallowtail have been fighting a bit. No fin nips but they do this “dance” where it really looks like some freshwater mating rituals where they yin-yang each other. The angel lost a scale the other week but...

    Fish limit in 120 gal

What happened? They are plankton eaters so they shouldn’t ever pick on corals. Which species? Was it aggressive?

    Fish limit in 120 gal

If you are taking fish suggestions, I recommend a swallowtail angel. They are 100% reef safe and lovely fish.
