Matt, Frys electronic stores were gone for a while already. I think Frys is still operating online.

The fan has it's own plug. So you should have 3 plugs (2 for the lights and 1 for the fan). You should put them in the same timer. So when the light is on, so do the fan.

The ballasts are not hard to replace. But there are 2 ballasts on 48" 8 bulbs I think. Better replace both of them since you gonna open it up. Here is the link for replacement ballast...

I think it's the issue with the ballast. You need to replace the ballast.

I don't think it's matter about the manufacture date if he changed the battery inside there.

There is NO problem of AA Frag AIO tank that I know. Only the sump that has window is the problem.

This type of sumps leak a lot of the times. Usually near the window area. It sucks to hear that from you. You should contact John @ AA see if he can do something.
