    Anyone Dosing Sodium Nitrate?

    That's true.

    Feeding coral/ fish

Small meals throughout the day is always best and a mix of food is great. I would transition to LRS (there's a nano version) over just mysis. It's a much cleaner food and there's no rinsing involved. The little bits are great food for corals, etc. TDO pellets are one of the best pellets out...

    Anyone Dosing Sodium Nitrate?

Ammonium chloride will be utilized almost instantly by corals, clams, macro algae, etc...The key is dosing a small amount throughout the day. You can dilute it so you don't have to worry about overdosing when using a dosing pump, but I dose every time I feed the tank, which is 6-8 times a day...

    Jimbo’s CDA 250

I've found that most "mysis" frozen food needs to be rinsed, some more than others. I've never used the SF brand, so I'm not sure. I only keep mysis for any picky eaters, which I don't usually have. The only frozen food I feed is LRS, mainly because I don't have to rinse it and it's packed with...

    Jimbo’s CDA 250

Silicates will eventually be used up as long as you're not adding more to the system than what can be used? They will go away on their own, but it will take time in a newer system that's low on biomass (corals, sponges, etc). I would feed the tank more, small meals throughout the day always...

    WTB: Copperband butterfly

Any butterfly with a large rostrum can and usually suffers from injuries during shipping, then they go to wholesalers who now pack fish in tiny, gnarly spaces in compromised water. Now, you can almost guarantee that any fish from a wholesaler will have flukes at minimum. It’s a wonder that most...

    WTB: Copperband butterfly

It's all about finding a healthy specimen, getting it to eat prepared foods and keeping it in a large enough space. Shipping does a lot of damage to these fish, so that's the first hurdle. I've seen plenty of healthy cbb in tanks.

    Question: how to lower ALK

Two things that help alk swings and tend to mitigate any negative issues that may arise are slightly elevated nutrients (mainly PO4) and higher pH values. Now have a spike or sudden drop with PO4 and it creates havoc, especially with sps. It’s a common myth that alk spikes cause burnt tips, but...

    Question: how to lower ALK

Just let it drop naturally, trying to correct it quickly will probably lead to problems. Keep nutrients up, as they will give you a little buffer. Stop 2 part or whatever you use to for alk/ca. It should only take a couple days for it to get back to normal and you can ease into your normal...

    LF: Galaxy 250w ballast

Anyone have a spare galaxy ballast they're willing to sell or trade for coral? Looking for 250w ballast and if you have the 250w-400w select-a-watt ballast, even better.

    Jimbo’s CDA 250

Dose ammonium chloride instead of NO3, RHF has a recipe on a r2r thread. Corals have to use a lot of energy to uptake nitrate from the water, but can use ammonium almost instantly as their nitrogen source. It's the next best thing besides urea from your fish.
