    FT small zoa colony

That’s not a nutrient issue, that’s a lack of herbivores. You can’t control algae by lowering nutrients, that’s not how it works. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Algae Barn - Anyone have recent expereince?

I didn’t go back for the derasa, but someone should pick that clam up, especially for that price. If my son’s tank was up and running, I would pick it up food him. Who knows, Marine I’ll go back this week? Most cultured hippopus clams are farmed for food and a small percentage are for the hobby...

Algae Barn - Anyone have recent expereince?

Sounds good. I love Ali’s shop and don’t mind the drive at all. The first time I stopped at his store, I was there for over an hour just talking with him. He was showing me everything in his shop and we were chatting about the good old days of reefing, so it’s always worth the drive for me. He...

If they ate palys, that would be a double bonus.

How are they with clams? Most butterflies I know nibble too much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Salt water mix

Just seal the container and leave it be. When you need to use it, add aeration and bring up to temp. But "cheaper" salts will not keep long term and may lose alk over time. The best salt for storing is Tropic Marin Pro, all other salts will vary depending on quality.

    Please Help Bubble Algae Outbreak

This ^^^^^^ that shit does more harm than good. Bubble algae is easy to deal with, just takes some manual labor and time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Please Help Bubble Algae Outbreak

I love one spot FF for bubble algae and they’re usually well behaved (at least for me). But if you have a small tank, then not a good option, as they grow fast. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Please Help Bubble Algae Outbreak

Don’t use chemicals for valonia, just physically remove it. You can use rigid tubing and cut a 45 on the end, connect to vinyl tubing (starts siphon) and drain it into your sump (into a filter sock). As you stab the bubble algae, it will drain into the sock, catching it all. Valonia grows by the...

Algae Barn - Anyone have recent expereince?

Most clams that enter the hobby only come from a few farms, despite what some vendors say, so it’s a matter of finding healthy animals that didn’t get too stressed during shipping. I don’t think too many local vendors would order or stock hippopus because they don’t have the great colors of...

Algae Barn - Anyone have recent expereince?

I’ve ordered pods and other things from them without issue. I’ve been wanting a hippopus for a long time, so let me know how it goes if you order one. I wish they had wysiwyg with their clams, but have a feeling that these may be drop shipped from ORA? You may want to ask Ali (amazing aquariums...

    Jimbo’s CDA 250

Fluconazole is one of the best things that's happened in recent reefing years. It's one, if not the only chemicals/treatments that does what it says it does. Now if we can find a treatment for those damn ankle biters, that would be awesome!

    Jimbo’s CDA 250

If you have room in your sump, you can use an algae turf scrubber with the idea that it allows the algae to grow in a specific area and not in the display. Whether it's an ATS or refugium, there's some merit to how well they work in these situations and to the benefit of the overall system. I...

    WTB Uncommon Soft Corals

Lemnalia and paralemnalia are cool, S. elegans (Fiji yellow). Not rare but cool, tubipora musica. Lobophytum (devil's hand) species can be cool and there's a blue variety that's pretty nice. Isaurus (snake polyps) species are very cool, kinda ugly, but cool. Hard to find mushrooms would be...
