I had a Melenarus that did the same thing. Beat up every new addition I put in the tank for days usually stressing and killing them. Beautiful fish but one I'm glad to be rid of.

Have you checked your freshly mixed water? Your problem sounds a lot like the one I was having. It ended up that the cheapie trash can I was using was leaching nitrates and phosphates... I tried everything else until I finally checked my water n03 and p04 were off the charts. I was doing a ton...

Yea I do have 12 nasarius snails in the tank now and 3 of the large ones. I've just always liked watching a goby sift the sand. Maybe it's not meant to be. I definately don't want a mess. Maybe one of the Two Spot Gobys? I know they're small. Anyone have experience with these?

In my new setup I'm using a shallow sand bed around 1.5". I'm looking for suggestions on a fish presumably a goby that will sift and move around my sand bed without taking it high into the water column and getting it all over my rocks/coral.

Most of the time when an anemone is inflating/deflating, pushing its insides out the mouth it's due to a bacterial infection. I've never done it myself but I've read of others treating nems with anti-biotics this way In a QT and bringing back a nem from certain death almost over night.

If you plan on keeping clams you'll have a descent Alk/ca/magnesium demand. Definately invest in some good test kits I like salifert personally. And use a 2 part like b-ionic to keep your Alk and ca stable. You could mix your own, it's a lot cheaper that way. You can buy 1 gallon premeasured...

Im using Instant Ocean. Was using more expensive brands but after asking a lot of people who have amazing tanks what salt the use its almost always IO to my surprise. For the price I'm giving it a shot looks great so far.
