Wait why are you reducing your nitrates...... I would make sure to dose bacteria after doing water changes. You are removing the biological filtration and the lack of is resulting in high nitrates. Have patience, there is no quick cure. Oh and I run my nitrate off the chart all the time so...

Do a water change to bring it down. High calcium is not the end of the world you will be fine. Yes both effect one another but not as much as one thinks. It also depends on what kind of specimens you are keeping. If its all lps you will be dosing a smaller amount of calcium comparted to alk.

I would put the gfo in the bottom with sponge mid reactor. Then put some carbon in a mesh bag and add it in. Carbon needs to be changed out more frequently and you can easily pull out the pouch to do so. Only flaw is the flow through the carbon should be higher but not by much so I don't think...

Sweet!! IMO the ocean revive is ideal for that tank!! Whatever you do dont put and MP10 on that tank!! You will regret it when you have 45 gallons on your floor lol
