Not hard if you do it with one of those nice mini band saws. Ive experimented doing fusing in the past many times. Its amazing how coral will accept another of the same kind and grow together. Another easy coral to fuse is monticap I think the hardest thing about fusing is cutting nice pieces...

Id try to either drill the hole larger to see if that works but the best way to do it is drill a hole a run a piece of tubing with an adjustable air valve on the end

1 400watt or 2 250 watt halides if it were me.....you could probably get away with 2 150 watt halides with nice reflectors with that 18 tall
