If you're looking for something a little cheaper look for the avast ato. There are no float switches, it runs off of a pressure switch. It is also compatible wth most controllers. I looked for horror stories before I purchased mine and couldn't find any. I agree with tunze if you have the money...

That's sad! Petco stores are the same way up here. I said something to the guy the last time I went in there for dog food. I told him all his fish would be dead within a week and told the manager maybe they should stop carrying saltwater fish until they learn to take care of them!

Same thing here. I tried every remedy on the internet... Lights out, no water changes, water changes, increased ph, and everything else. None of it worked. So I stopped it all, resumed weekly water changes, cut the lights back and waited it out. Took about a month and then they just disappeared.

I'm honestly not sure. Mine isn't completely purple. I recently just picked it up, but it looked the same in the other guys tank. I have seen some that are completely purple and some that aren't, not sure if it's the lighting or tank conditions. What lighting do you have and placement?
