Great job for you first time. I was going to give you some suggestions on tools but it looks like you have a great setup. The only thing could add is that I use disposable scalpels and eye protection.

I wanted to add a protein skimmer and have seen mixed reviews at best on all the nano skimmers. Does anyone have a recommendation with some experience using a specific one? Space is limited to 4 by 2/12 inches.

I have been have some of my Deadpool and candy crush mushrooms do the same thing. Would this be considered bouncing?

Welcome!!!! Are going fish only or reef tank? You got a lot of good advice already but my thought is buy the right equipment the first time because I have a closet full of things that I never used or won’t work with the setup I eventually ended up with.

Thanks for the info. Tank is 5 months old but rock is from another tank that was about 4 years old. I have been removing it manually but it seems to come back quickly. I will try adjusting the flow and see if that helps.

I saw two good sized ones at Harry’s marine life a week ago. It’s my favorite fish in my tank.

I have only checked nitrates and they are in range but I haven’t checked phosphates. The only filtration I have on this tank is filter floss and a filter sock. I do a 5 gallon water change every week and I have only two small fish in the tank. Have you ever had any success with a nano skimmer...

It looks a lot worse in person. It doesn’t look as bad in the pictures.
