Need help identifying some coral, two of them I’m pretty dang sure they are battlecoral from Adam, I just don’t remember the names the 3rd I know it’s a fairly popular one, I just can’t remember the name. I’ll probably have to get out the SLR Sunday night and take better photos

battlecoral... all 3 photos the same one. Yellow growth tips, purple/red base and blue/green collets

Another battle coral

green/yellow base reddish/purple branch and bluish/purple tips (2 photos). I have 2 colonies of this, the other one is not so “lanky” And grows more like a common Acro but still lanky

3rd photo is same coral, different colony

How quick do you figure it jumped up? And from what normal level for it? Beautiful tank.
About this quick

It does it every time I refill the kalk reactor but this time I went on vacation right after I changed it and had the halides off for a week To slow evaporation.

Normally for the first week I’m adding a gallon a day without the kale reactor but this time I just switched the lights back on and figured the week of lower evaporation would have softened the spice. I was wrong :(

Down to 9.9 with no real fatalities.

I think the bleaching on the base of one of my acros that quad me in on this was actually caused by a nem attack near by.

All I did was shut off the calcium reactor and manually top off so I bypass the kale reactor.

Dang, my bio load is gynormous. I’m in to test for nitrate and phosphates but I’, dosing 9 ml NoPox /day and the mass of bacteria bein removed in the skimmer and filter floss is amazing. The 2 X 7” cups clog in 3-7 days.

Been over 5 months since I have updated this thread, because of this:

http://www.socalireefs.com/index.ph...y-you-could-kill-everything-in-a-tank.103824/

started restocking about a month ago. First with a rainbow nem and then 15 baby perculas. 2 of which are hosting the nem, the rest are mostly hosting the front right corner of the tank.

fish, I’ve lucked out and just purchased 2 lots of used fish.

first lot:
2 ea purple tang
1 each yellow tang
1 each yellow chorus wrasse

2nd lot:

1 each yellow tang
1 each hawk fish
1 each mandarin dragonet
1 each powder blue tang
1 each pseudochromis.

there’s a little bit of jockeying for territory and pecking order but no nipping and the scalpels aren’t coming out. Everybody is fat and happy and they are pretty civil when the Nori clip is put in.

with the 2nd lot I got about 14 unnamed SPS. Mostly acropora, some nice montie’s, a nice miliapora and a setosa. I’ll brobably keep the pumpkin patch, season’s greetings monti, setosa, one green and teal stag, the rainbow-ish miliaprora and what I’m about 99%sure is an Oregon tort.

Good news is they have been there a week and only lost 2 the first day.

I’ll snap some photos.

I meant to take some photos this weekend but I was too busy working on this:

Replaced both the stub axles with chromoly one pice, rebuilt the hub bearings, upgraded the cooling fan and installed a fresh transmission and new chromoly axels

Saturday was my birthday and I texted my mom some tank photos. The tester coral are surviving but my chemistry is still off. NO3 is 3ppm, PO4 is begrudgingly slipping down to .38 PPM but started at .9ppm calcium is 500 and all is still 10.5. Burnt some tips. Lost 3 in transit but I’ll be ready to start stocking SPS soon!

the mix of fish I have is probably the best I have ever had. Very active and colorful with minimal aggression. Very relaxing

How’s it clearing up?
It’s a mess. The skimmer basically needs to be cleaned daily and I skim fairly dry. I cleaned it yesterday, took the whole thing down and cleaned it out in the morning and then this morning I needed to empty the cup as brown foam was already coming out of the air vents on the cap. Cleaned this morning at 5:00AM, I’ll snap another photo this evening and it will be full in 18 hrs
