Hello to all, I have a 24 gallon nano, I have a few patches here and there of green hair algae, I have tried to remove it by hand but have never been able to get it all. I was thinking about getting a little bitty Yellow Tang. Is this a good idea or not? I was told they are reef safe. What else can I do to control this algae? It isnt a big problem yet but I obviously dont want it to be. My LFS sold me a blue spotted sea hare but it died on me, wasnt interested in the algae.

i'm gonna get some sh*t for saying this, but i say get a baby hippo... i had one in my 28g for a few months. i had green hair algae and wasn't able to get rid of it till i got the baby blue hippo. it cleaned up my tank really good.

after it's done it's job, simply catch it and pass it on to the next reefer with a big tank like i just did... they don't go from 1 in. to full grown in just a couple months. i really don't see the big deal in doing that... (to hell with the tang police) :reddy:

What a baby hippo tang for a 24gal, I am quitting this hobby I can't take it anymore....:hello:
:hahaha: you sold him to me Tom!

btw, i look at it this way... Tom has a shop big enough to house all his nice new fish tanks, and drygoods, bubble kings, clams, ora corals, etc... sure it would be nice to have a big warehouse to put all that stuff in, but Tom maximizes his store to make all the stuff fit. someday when Tom outgrows his shop, he'll find a bigger place. same concept with the tang. :)

who's to say that a tang is happy in a 180g tank, when they really belong in the ocean with endless swimming space... :aetsch:
