Here is my idea:
I own my own airplane and am addicted to this hobby like the rest of the crowd here.
I have seen some interesting pieces in the AquaSD sales threads.
Does anyone have interest in buying a seat in my plane sometime in early May for a trip from KSMO (Santa Monica) to KSAN (San Diego) for the purpose of making a shopping run to AquaSD?

I can accommodate three passengers (each must weigh less than 180lbs) plus myself.
Each passenger may bring back up to 50 lbs of cargo.

In an effort to offset my costs and offer something both fun and useful to the folks here, I am prepared to offer the seats for either 75 or 100 bucks each.
Yes thats more expensive than just buying and having your purchase shipped....but this is also a fun trip and if you happen to be looking for expensive corals etc, this offers a better solution than shipping your stuff.

I am 2000+ hour Instrument Rated Commercial pilot with a couple Flight Instructor ratings as well. As such I have flown in and out of San Diego just a helluva a lot of times.
The price of the seats does not equal the costs for me but it will help me offset it a bit.

Total flight time roundtrip = approximately 2 hours. Less if I drop the hammer lol

Anyway...thats my idea.

Thoughts?

PS. Sorry if this is not the right place to post this.

PPS If you barf in my plane...you will be publicly flogged by a herd of midgets. :a39:

Lmao I can only imagine. Life styles of the rich an famous. Imagine jet setting around the world to handpick the most LE coral that can be found. Lol

Sounds like a fun way to combine both of your hobbies.

You drive Los Angeles to San Diego roundtrip in under two hours?

I will either be using my plane which is a Cirrus SR22T

or a friend's Piper Arrow.

That sounds fun but I'm currently tipping the scales at 181.

LOL I think I can make 181 work. hehe

Seriously, this is for fun. I am going anyway and I am thinking May 8th (Though I am open to other dates)
I am pretty sure if we get a group of serious buyers together, AquaSD would probably be willing to pick us up and drop us back off again. I haven't asked them yet but Will down there seems like a reasonable guy.

If folks wanna make a day of it, thats cool by me too. Could go down in the morning and just meet back at the AP at a specific time for the return flight.
I haven't been to the SD zoo in about 30 years so it might be time to see whats changed there. hehe

$100 is not bad for a trip with the ballers. The only problem is that my budget for coral is $100/year. Jesse, TangWich, do you need to buy anything?

Shoot me a pm. I'm a 3000+ hr corporate pilot looking for partnership aircraft. I fly citations but have been yearning for a piston family plane. We at least can have an interesting discussion on cost for renting vs owning.

What if I don't want to buy anything but would love to fly in one of those? I don't mind spending $75-100

Yea, rides can be fun. For this though, I'd like to keep the seats open for folks who want to grab corals, etc which they might not want to risk shipping back.

Of course, if nobody takes the seats or they don't fill... :)

I live a 1/2 mile from KSMO. If I could lose 35# AND have my tank up by May, I'd be in. :(

AquaSD is an awesome store and Will is a great guy. Have fun!

He hasn't met most of us fatties yet. Cool idea though. I'd be all in if I was 10lb lighter and a little closer
