So I bought an apex JR from a fellow reefer and I am currently working on trying to set up the internet accessibility via wifi, I could not connect the apex straight to the modem because it is so far away so I connected my new iogear gaming adapter and fully set it up so the wifi adapter was carrying the wifi and Internet was accessible through it. Once I unplugged the adapter from the computer and moved it to the apex I plugged it in and there was no internet reception no matter how many time I turned the DHCP on and reset it, first of all I think the apex is out of date because it doesn't even have a fusion link button to access on the main display, once I plug the gaming adapter into the apex it doesn't light up with all LAN and all the things like it was on the computer just the power and one other light, i don't know if it is because of the non update or there is something else wrong, if it is the update how do I go about updating the firmware.. Let me know what you guys think !

you NEVER update an APEX via wireless. I would purchase a long cat 5e cable that will reach to your modem. I had the same thing happen with the adapter I was using so I just gave up and bought a cable for it.

I don't really have a choice I mean the cord will reach the modem but it will run thru the house and I could only keep it there for a little bit, is that all I would need to update?

Do you get wifi signal from the location you have the iogear now on any other wifi enabled wireless devices?

I use a wireless bridge to reach the apex's for the tanks in my detached garage. Probably 75' away.

if you are able to get wifi signal on other devices at that location then the iogear wireless bridge should be able to get the apex jr to connect. Might have to check to see if the iogear is set up correctly. Maybe test with a laptop or something with built in wifi connection turned off and connecting using just the iogear to make sure it works.

You will also need to update the firmware on the Apex Jr to the latest firmware so that it's Fusion capable. Like others have said, DO NOT DO THAT OVER WIFI.

Okay so how exactly do I update the firmware, I understand it needs to be hard wired to the modem but how does downloading it on my computer via a MAC get transferred onto the apex

I'd suggest trying to test some other form of wireless device where you are putting the gaming bridge to see if your wireless devices can receive reception there. I picked up a Netgear version at Best Buy, and if it doesn't work for you, they are pretty good about taking them back. My router is closer now, but I used to get reception on the bridge while the router was inside the garage about 60' away.

Also, Zoarder is correct, never try to update an Apex via a wireless connection - it will make things so much worse.

What is the current firmware version on your apex jr.?

If it is old like a year or more, I suggest you update the firmware on the apex first. Connect the apex jr. to your router. If you connect the apex to your modem, I don't see how your computer can see the apex. Therefore upgrade is not possible. I forget if the apex can go online and search for an updated firmware version...Anyway that is also risky.

When you reset the apex, the DHCP option is set by default. After connecting the WiFi device to the apex, using the display to check what ip address you have on the apex? Is that expected?

.....Once I unplugged the adapter from the computer and moved it to the apex I plugged it in and there was no internet reception no matter how many time I turned the DHCP on and reset it

okay, just forget about everything and go one by one, with that being said. you have the JR and a wireless bridge AKA your gaming adaptor, and from what you said if you connect your gaming adaptor to your laptop it will receive a wireless signal through your modem correct? if so, you should have your apex on DCHP connection, connect the gaming adaptor on your apex and from your laptop download the apex ulitity,

and from your laptop when you open the utility.exe you should see a magnifying glass. click on it and that should show you your apex and the IP.
