Day 3: 125mg of Cipro & clean water last night, no light, low flow. It’s not looking good but hopefully salvageable. Nothing is deteriorating so fingers crossed.
I’ve read that you should not combine Cipro and Amoxicillin since gig’s bacteria is gram-negative, which Cipro targets. After Cipro after 5-7 days (I’m on Day 4), I can switch but not do both, which can increase toxicity.
Up to you, i quoted a thread on the other forum which i think your on as well in a recent gig thread where the person had a gig looking similar to yours and added amox to it and the gig recovered. I can link you the thread if you like. Maybe try some lugols or a different antibiotic altogether if you’re hesitant on amox combo? Unfortunately we dont know enough about what the actual illness is and whether all issues gigs have are bacterial related.

Thanks - will switch to Amoxicillin tomorrow if condition doesn’t improve.
I got plenty of lugols as well but Iodine is caustic to exposed tissues so will melt pretty fast. I should only add lugos if the mouth is closed.
Gigs can turn South as fast as SPS RTN’ing so this hobby can be very humbling and challenging (okay, damn frustrating). I can pretty much grow & propagate many things but the Gig God has not been friendly to me…Perhaps I need to sacrifice some chickens? Souls of dead Presidents haven’t been working…
Oh well - just did a 50% WC, replaced carbon, cleaned the skimmer, and replenished the AF Pro 1/2/3. I got the combo pack from BRS’ Black Friday sale and should last me a year - woo hoo!
lol - definitely not for me though. I’ve found carbon dosing to be super effective and low/zero mess vs other forms of nitrate control. Currently doing DIY NoPox but will switch to straight vodka when I’m out - lower concentration and no smell. I’m doing 10mL/day on this tank and my nitrate is under 20ppm! Bioload is around 10 fish and half of them are around 4” big.

Possibly that your bioload is more than me? My tank is BB so it’s super sterile - I also got many rocks & bioballs in the sump so max nitrification already!
But love the beauty of carbon dosing right? It’s super easy to control.
