After seeing all the pics and sale ads for these anenomes, I want to put one in my tank. Thus far, it seems people suggest putting them in before any other types of corals due to thier propensity for moving around and their strong stinging abilities. Since my tank already has corals that have been puttied down, will this present a serious probem? If I introduce one or two in my tank what is the best procedure? Do I place it high in the tank and hope it settles in? What do i do if I see it stinging my other corals. Are they easy to remove from where they are attached?

tell us a bit more about your tank. I would suggest only adding one if any at all, but that depends on your tank. They are definitely not a beginners livestock...

Tank is Biocube 29. I've got a chaeto refugium, protein skimmer, RKL, JBJ ato, 150watt Halide lighting. 3 small fish, 9 snails, 4 crabs. Corals: duncan, frogspawn, crocea clam, leather, candy cane, shrooms, and a green slimer. So far everything is going well and no casualties. All the corals are on the small side as they are frags. The tank still has plenty of room especially the top areas. If BTA are going to pose a problem, I will just add a couple more SPS to the top portion of the tank.

Personally, in that size tank, I would skip the anemone. It will move and get too big for your tank. Go with a couple more SPS, good idea...

just wanted to add ime, besides wandering, anemones add quite a bit to the bioload of a tank. I have 3 clones in my 40 gallon breeder along with a breeding pair of maroon clowns and I can't keep the tank clean--I'm gonna have to put a bubble king on it just to keep the algae in check.

just get some duncans... problem solved...

i just don't understand why you should get the nem before corals...? no matter what, after the corals are there and everything, if the anemone decides too, he will move on it's own... for no reason... just because it wants to walk... and then it will sting your corals...

You know what...life's to short to play by the rules...Experiment and have fun.
My setup in chronological order:
10 gallon, no light - 2 clowns, 1 firefish goby. A week later, I added a diamond goby. I got curious and added live rock. Clown fish 1 dies, and then I go a few weeks just as is. I then add a orange tail damsel. I eventually get rid of the damsel. I get curious and experiment with LEDs. I end up getting a zoa and it blooms. I get crazily hooked and add more LEDS (all diy) and buy stuff from dana. I throw in 3 hermit crabs. I leave the hood open and Ricky Goby (the diamond) goes carpet surfing ( i couldnt imagine why..i have hardwood floors). A week later, I get Cobra Commander ( another diamond). 2 weeks go by, I purchase another clown, and an anemone.

Life so far is good. I never knew the "rules" and just played it by eye. Daniel gave me good advice - Look at your corals, they'll let you know whats going on.

This hobby is crack. Im hooked...and i still have a 10 gallon
