Eff that!!!! I’ve had a 300 and not again. I really love the dims of this tank. 60”X30” on the foot print. I really have nothing to upgrade other then the tank and stand with these dims. Being that the 150 is 60”X24” I can us my current equipment from the 150 on the 187. It’s the only real reason why I decided to attempt this project.

But side note. Mr turbo and my lady were talkin non sense on Sunday saying I’m going to be setting up my own shop re building tanks. I’m like hell no this shit wasn’t easy and no one would pay for it. Plus I am no way going to be liable for another persons home.
I would pay you to reseal the 120g I have in the garage! Haha

So gutted the stand today. Having a metal frame stand being built that will fit perfectly inside the skin of the old stand.

Also was doing some work on. The Eurobrace here’s how I’ll be holding the Eurobrace in place

The notches in the 1bys are so I can get my fingers and the caulking gun in the gaps. I’ll be doing injections method on the Eurobrace

Well had an accident today peps. Wife spoke up and I had to beat a B and broke a Eurobrace over her A.

Naw I’m just effin around while trying to hold one of the Eurobrace to put the claps on I dropped the brace and it cracked in 3 places. I tried to cut and see if I can use it but it just doesn’t look right. So I’ll be ordering a new piece of glass on Monday. SMH

So after messing with the Eurobrace and let’s those sit I decided to mess with the overflow box. I bought a Lg MD external overflow on like the fist day of the clearance sale. But after reading smite’s review on the kit I started thinking on ways to modify the overflow. Saw a brand (can’t remember the name) that had horizontal wiers instead of vertical wiers. So I decided to try it. So I cut about an inch off the top of the internal piece and then ran a horizontal cut under the vertical wier. Then I made two braces that hold the front plate from collapsing in

Also got the stand and skin down from the back of the truck. The stand slides nicely into the skin. Now I need to replace the top pieces to get rid of the old overflow cutout and sand every think smooth then finish the wood.

Cleaned up the brace this morning

Tank is looking pretty clean. I’m still pretty pissed at my self for dropping that other long brace. I’m going to call golden glass in the morning when I wake up to order another brace.
I’m hoping the 2” brace is strong enough to hold the pressure tho. The original brace was 4” and now 2” well wait to see what happens when I do the water test.
Old brace now used as double bottom brace 4” wide

The new 2” Eurobrace

Here’s the 2” stacked on top of the 4”

Damn looking real good man.

They always end up getting dirty though on the wet side, once everything a running you’ll probably never even notice.
Yep, I can polish up my euro brace and it looks good for about 3 days but you can never see into the tank through my eurobrace without shutting off all the flow anyways.

Cool idea with the overflow, wish i though of that.

Good call on overflow position, biggest regret on my 180 was centering it!

That’s why I positioned towards the side that’s the easiest to reach. Because of your comment of regretting where you please your external and being able to reach it when it developed a leak.

What type coat are you going to do on the stand?
Man this is a touchy subject in my house. So wife wants me to do white, I want to stay black (so it will match what I already have),and as @Goober was building the stand he said a nice dark walnut stain will look good with the wood grain, some like this.

But we know most likely the wife’s vote out weighs any mans vote. So once I get to paint we will see how hard she fights for white.

If it's quality wood/grain stain is hard to beat. White is such a bitch to match. Remind her once blue lights are on, that thing aint gonna look white anyway!

Powdercoat on the steel or what?

Good point. I’ll have to point that out to here. But it might be hard. She loved the way my buddy Will’s tank looked.

No powder coat. Just a good oil based enamel paint.

Stay away from powder coat on a steel stand! I powder coated my last stand and I’m never doing it again. Too many rust spots. I’ve had the best results with bed liner.

Goober said the same. I’m waiting on the leveling feet to come so I can drill and tap the holes for those.

I’m thinking about making little covers to hide the metal stand and wires inside the stand.
