That's awesome man, well done. Hopefully the large piece goes just as smooth!
You good sir, you are good.

So after doing 4 successfully practices cuts on the old Eurobrace I was like let’s attempt the big boy. So I cleaned the table off. Got a really good score on the glass

Then got the piece into a position where it would be easier to use the running pliers and there wasnt any negative pressure on the score

Lined up the pliers and snap

Ent E ent EEEEE! Fail!

So later I’ll try doing the tapping method to create a run line.

But first I have bigger fish to fry

So this is the ceiling on the second story and that is a shit load of water dripping. After crawling my fat ass up in the attic I found that the AC condensation drain line and the emergency drip pan drain line are both clogged so after sucking up about 2 gallon of water out of the drip pan and ac unit. I redneck rigged a temporary fix so I can run to the depot at buy the plumbing I need to fix this.

Haha, man I thought you had it down after watching the video.
Once I get the ac fixed I’ll attempt again. I’ll just try the tapping method, to create a run line. Hopefully that will work on these long ass strips.

Figured out why the ac was leaking tho. The installer that installed the new unit in the attic didn’t use teflon tape when installing the condensation drain. So it had a drip that got worse over the years. So I replumbed the drain and installed an emergency catch pan.

Another zonk guys. The glass is to soft and old to make thin strips

But I was at least able to cut it down into more manageable pieces

Dose any buddy know if Steve will be into taking these or should I just trash it

Edit: nvm I remembered that I still had Steve’s cell so I just shoot him a text and he’s willing to take the pieces.

Now do I keep the running pliers hummmmm

Damn good effort. I thought it would work for ya after the video.
In the vid I was working with regular glass I think that’s why it was easier to cut. The low iron had a lot of chipping and not many of the breaks were on the score perfectly. Even when I was tapping on the glass with the back of the glass trying to get a run to occur the glass was getting dimple like a golf ball.

Does this mean u can start charge for custom eurobrace slabs lol shoot cause if this was 3 years ago I would’ve paid u in a heart beat
Man I thought about ordering a large piece of 1/2” thick glass and seeing if it would be easier to cut new regular glass.

In all honesty I’m having a lot of fun doing all the different trades. Granted I’m spending a lot of time that I don’t have much of during the summer (cause of work). But it’s keeping me busy and the gears in my head going.

So I’m wondering if there’s any guys out there that would be willing to give me a hand assembling this thing later this afternoon. I’ll even buy pizza and wings. I also have plenty of sps frags I can give out. So hit me up if interested. It should only take an hour or so.

Did some final wet polishing to the sides this morning

They came out really clear. A slight line of etching but it will be hidden by silicone

Everything is taped and ready to go. Just need some hands to silicone everything in place

Got tape on the bottom to hold the sides from sliding out of place.
Silicone gun ready to go.

Well I’ll start off by saying thanks to TurboNut (Omar) for shooting out and giving me, wife, and daughter a hand.

Secondly let’s just say siliconing a large tank is extremely hard. Ok maybe not hard but is pretty difficult to get done cleanly. But we got the seams sealed

So I got the seams at a thickness that I’m happy with. But the silicone started to skin over really quick and I wasn’t quick enough to smooth the bead and pull the tape off so the seams are pretty rough.

So maybe on Tuesday or Wednesday I’ll start cutting the inner seam and smoothing it out. And cleaning up the beads. But for most part I’m pretty happy with the tank so far.

Just hopping it holds
