I've got this weird idea bouncing around in my brain for a "false" canopy. Open top so I still lower my light rack into it, to help with light spillage. Permanently mounting the back of the canopy's wood planks to the wall, but having the left and front facia removable with magnets. Having them rest on the eurobracing, on ledges like I did my removeable stand doors, with magnets to connect to the wood on the wall and to each other. I could pop the facia pieces off to access the tank and view from the top down when I want to.
I plan to redo my magnetic doors. They're a little grungy and I want them to cover the sand height. So I could match whatever I do to those at the same time. We'll see if I follow through.
If I do that canopy idea, I feel like it opens a door to do a over the brace closed loop that I've been dreaming about for a while. 2 x L2 (or similar) dc pumps sharing a gutter (need to contact someone with 3D printer and skills) that fits the right side of my tank where my gyres are. They take up pane to overflow, so my thought is replace it with a gutter, that has a grill for 2 DC pumps to pull from. Incorporated into that grill, or just above pump 1s return row of nozzles or a piece of PVC with holes/ slit in it. Pump 2 return would be routed to the back left corner of the display. V'ing off to simliar return as the pump one. This would allow me to mimic my best flow to date, my peninsula tank. Where I had 1 mp40 run for 1-2 minutes one way, so all water would circulate clockwise. Then it would shut off and and the mp40 on the other side of the overflow would kick on and do the same. This would cause a turbulent moment then reverse the flow for a good moment. Watching polyps, this seems like great flow for stick and also I felt like I had better, tighter growth structure in that tank then this tanks first go. Anyone done something like this? I feel like if intake an return are basically same height, I can mount the pump wherever I'd like and have zero head pressure. I'd ust need to plumb in a drain valve over my sump for maintenance.
