Sweet. The build looks clean. love a double lagoon.

I just bought an used GHL, so hopefully it’s not too hard to use.

I’m always learning something when I see other’s build. Where did you buy the white hose clamps? I think I need some.

That’s really clean, going to be nice. Looks like it was done on router table!!
Thanks! I wish, I did it old school with a square, pencil and palm router. I used a hole saw to create the corners of the smaller cutouts and used a drill bit for the larger cutouts. I just clamped on a straightedge where I could, so one side of the smaller cutouts on the top and bottom is freehand, so they're not perfect.

That definitely doesn’t look like hand tools. Really clean. Especially the curves. Can’t wait to see the layout of the electronics on the board. Going to copy some ideas.

Thank you! I'll have to post a close up of one the cutouts, then you'll see the funky router jagged lines. My dad used to make wood signs for people when I was a kid as a way to supplement his income and he did everything freehand with a really cheap router and few different bits. He sold so many signs, that our garage always had 10-20 signs in some stage. He took his time and I kinda follow suit, as I'm a very patient person, which is why I love reefing. If I had the tools and the time, I would make nothing but mid-century furniture with walnut and maple only.

It’s mounted and ready to go. Hopefully I’ll get back on track with the nano build soon enough.

Just need to do some cable management, but the main components are finished. I’ll throw in some substrate sauce today and a piece of live rock from the temp nano and we’re off and running.

I wanted to design a “catch” tray or basket for the 1st compartment of the sump, so I enlisted the help of my 3D printing guru Neon_Reefer and I think it turned out pretty well. It was mainly designed to reduce the waterfall, but I thought of a double use media basket would help as well.

Great splash sound reducer for sure. Will have to clean often because it'll get gunked up and trap detritus. I had something similar in a nano before.

My tanks usually run low on residual nitrates, so I won’t mind if it gets a little dirty before cleaning.

Yeah, kind of. My plan is to grow sea grass and a mangrove in that tank, but I may throw in more sand or maybe some mud, but only a fine layer on top.
I think that'll look really nice! When you mean seagrass, do you mean the type that you can collect from the beaches here in socal? I tried putting local seagrass in my tank, and it did well for a few weeks before finally declining :( I've heard cases of it working though

Good meeting you too John! Glad it worked out.

Look forward to seeing some clams in there. Build is progressing nicely

Hey Jamie, how's it going? The clowns are doing great btw. No, the sea grass I'm going to use is from tropical waters. I wanted the species Ali has it his shop, but he's not selling it, so I'm sourcing mine through Steve Garrett.

Just yank it from Ali's tank. Tell him you only need 2 or 3.

I swear he never wants to sell anything sometimes, LOL.

So did you put all of the electronics in the board yet? I want to see the final product. I want to do something similar, so I'm going to be patient and try to plan it out a bit like you have.

Funny, if Ali wasn't such a nice guy I would harass him. I'll just get the species that Steve has, although I don't think it's the thick bladed species that Ali has though?
I've mounted most of the things on there, but I'm waiting for a couple extension cables to come in, then I'll mount my Wave Engine on the top right. I have to wait until I make the transfer from the temp tank before I move everything else, most of which are small modules and two more power bricks for the Quanta bars. Once I get everything mounted, then I'll mount the Noctua fans on the sides.
I have an ABS panel on the left side of the tank that's holding the Apex brain, skimmer controller, COR20 controller and the Helio controller. I'm not sure if I'll mount the MP40's on the tank panel or the closet? I'll see how much room I have left.

I have one EB8 mounted on the bottom, but still need to mount the other when I make the transfer. The ecotech battery backup is mounted on the inside panel on the top right (you can see the access holes, so I can replace it or remove if needed). I’ll mount the other two Quanta power supplies parallel to the halide ballasts (just above). Behind the right halide ballast, I have a 3D printed power brick rack that’ll hold 3 bricks, plus I can mount single brackets in a few different places if needed. To the left of this main panel I’m going to mount a single panel to mount my dosers with hooks to hold the EasyReefs 1500mL bags. They’ll sit right above my 25g ATO reservoir.

It’s not the best pic, but this old school acan echinata will be making the trip to the nano. What you can’t see in this pic are the pink highlights and the multi colored mouths.

Just a few quick pics. I moved the yellow assessor to the 25g and was going to move the Randall’s goby to the 90g, but couldn’t find the little guy. I’m not sure what happened, but he’s MIA and he’s not in the obvious places, in or out of the tank. He was there just a day or two ago, who knows? I did pick up some really nice gonis from my favorite local hangout @goldenstatecorals. Now I just need to buy a few fish and a couple small crocea clams.

Oh yeah, I managed to pull a magnet from the stand, which why the front panel is off. Apparently I needed more epoxy?
