i just did a water change so lots of detritus and what not floating around, but the tank seems to be doing well finally. butterflies are slowly ridding me of the aptasia, but man i miss me the burgess butterfly who was the aptasia heavyweight champion

i can't wait to get some more corals in there. fishless coral qt is going surprisingly decent. i did burn a raja rampage chalice, not sure if that was tank doing or me, i kinda put it right in there with acros so maybe too much light, but i haven't lost an acro yet surprisingly. live rock ftw. however i did recently get a bit of dinos popping up, so i got some tisbee pods from podyourreef just a couple days ago and have been adding phyto so hopefully they'll mow that down along with the live rock outcompeting it

I like vids easier to gain perspective on the tanks that way. IMO
yeah, i just wanted to try to stick to taking a monthly progress video and then i could go back and see how things went month to month. now i can look back on exciting times like full algae coverage, dinos, fallow for months Lol

i have a really bad memory when it comes to things changing slowly right in front of me, so i have been trying to take the videos and some progress pics. so hopefully, someday many years from now, i can be like oh hey i have the original frag pic of this coral that is now an absolute unit

Took some pics of my fishless coral qt tank which is going pretty well surprisingly, although it does have some Dinos trying to break through. I got some tisbee pods and have been hitting the tank with microbacter 7 and copious amounts of phyto as tisbees apparently eat dinos

I started the tank with some live rock from my dt, mostly dry sand, and then sprinkled in a couple cups of sand from the dt for good measure. Then I ran the tank without light for a month and then added corals a couple days after turning the light on. Dinos suck but I havenā€™t lost any acros so thatā€™s a plus

My first batch of frags should be good to go in like 2-3 weeks so thatā€™ll be fun. I wonā€™t lie qting coral really sucks, the fun of getting new frags and then putting them in this other stupid tank blows lol, but velvet sucks more so going with it for now

oh and took a video a couple days ago under whiter light

on the coral qt i have a prime 16

no joke idk if that light is iffy now or what. i used to have 2 of the older model primes on my old tank and they were great. this one seems fine except when at full power the fan is loud af. like in the video you can hear the fan and it's so bad lol

on my dt i have 2 reefi duo extremes and then a radion g5 xr15 pro in the middle. i like the reefis, but the spread on g5 radions is nuts so i tried to post the reefis for sale, but no bites from anyone lol. i don't hate them, they're solid lights, i just wouldn't have minded swapping them out for 2 more xr15s especially since they're just smaller. the bummer of buying off brand equipment, if you ever want to sell it, it might be hard

unfortunately seems i went from 6 sunsets to 3. the first loss was day of shipping, so i'm guessing that one just didn't take shipping well

then i had to remove the male due to aggression from a female who turned male soon after

but then she/he promptly also disappeared. she was kinda hiding in my observation tank, so i decided they all looked healthy and to just put them in the dt, but haven't seen him appear yet so i'm guessing he's a goner. i figured ordering 6 i'd be happy to end up with at least 4 or 5.. 3 is not nearly as ideal.. oh well

Thatā€™s a bummer. Hopefully he/she is just hiding.

Tank looks great with all the fish!
i'd love that, but idk not overly optimistic on that front. it was hiding for a couple days and not eating for a couple days prior to adding to the dt. i had seen some white stringy poo so i was feeding general cure + focus, but maybe it didn't fix the issue and something internal got him. sucks

i still have like 6 more fish to put in :ROFLMAO:. my last iteration i had less rockwork, so now it looks even more packed. not sure i love how packed it's gonna look.. luckily the ones i have left to add are benthic/jawfish/midas blenny and an orangeback fairy wrasse for good measure. i have too many orange/red fish too lol

Sorry to hear that.

Itā€™s going to look great! Love the orange back fairy they are sick! Iā€™ve been contemplating getting rid of the my rhomboid in favor of a smaller flasher wrasse pair ideally P. attenuatus. Like the lots of fish look.

Such a bummer on the sunsets. Iā€™m in pretty much in the same boat. Maybe they are like other anthias that are best 1.2 if not in a really large group? Iā€™m down to 1.3 now.
Tanks looking great! Bonus to QT you should be fine stocking heavy

I think my first mistake was getting a male, I had heard the shipping stress can be tougher on males and it probably just gave an in for the female to take over

the shipping loss one was whatever, tsm packs like a beast so not sure they can do much more there, just unfortunate

and then the female male I guess was the internal thing so youā€™d hope tsm wouldā€™ve fixed that but fixing internal stuff is tough

I like a packed tank too, just not toooo packed like those nutty Asian tanks with like 80 large fish in a 120 šŸ¤£ that doesnā€™t look appealing, but not lacking movement either

now just the flame angel left to go in. Iā€™m gonna let the multicolor settle in for a few days and then try to acclimation box in the flame

Looks good bummer on the dinos. Whatā€™s your course of action going to be?

And Is that a Orchestral version of Otherside I hear in the back ground? Dig it!
