Hello everyone. I have to do this so the hubby can have a chance to win a tank controller. So here we go... Just want to get a census. How difficult or cool would it be to have a small tank with just one main color. I was thinking ORANGE! Like orange sponges, orange corals and so on...
How hard would that be in a small tank?
I think it would look very cool, what do you guys think?

Welcome. Depends on how small is small and how much you want to spend. On your question about sponges, they are a challenging organism to care for. I have yet to see a naturally orange sponge in the trade. However you may stumble upon one. I would you advise you against sponges. There are a few orange corals. Some will be harder to care for than others but, with proper care they should do fine.

I think that is an awesome idea! I have a 2.5 gallon mixed reef pico that runs with great success, with only weekly water changes, Even has a monti in there! Orange fungias are sweet looking, and only $59.95 at Coral Gazers. Orange sponges are very common, and EASY to care for, there is a ball or branching orange sponge, as well as blue, red, and yellow sponges. they just cant touch air. if you keep it to lps and non-photosynthetic corals, ul do great! OH AND WAT SKIMMER R U RUNNING!? lol

i've seen some amazing species tanks before... one was all sun coral... this guy started out with one colony, fragged it up, and in months he had sun corals growing all over the place... it was nice, but he had several different colors of them... black, pink and orange... and he only had an intense blue light that made all of them glow... and they were always open... that was an impressive 40g tank...

edit: hey cody, that's a nice plate... for a while i had three orange plate corals... i got them for 30 bucks but ended up giving them up... i almost got one again today for 35 bucks but they aren't my thing... shop around...

I think monochrome tank would defeat the purpose of having a reef tank? I mean, the reason I got into reef tanks is because of the variety of amazing colors. Overall, I don't think it'd look so good.

hmm... you have a point... but i guess everyone in this forum is weird... they will all like a tank with a bunch of orange corals, but they all hate a planted freshwater tank...

LOL...
