Being that our tanks are very similar in size and set-up, I would recommend the Regal Octopus 250-INT. It has been rock solid in my tank and pulls out some nasty gunk even with the relatively light bio-load I have right now. You might be able to go the next step down, but I wouldn't go much further than that.
Is your AquaMaxx online as well?

Thanks Bean! Long way to go but definitely pleased with the build quality of CDA. I haven’t found any flaws in tank or stand -and I’ve looked. Funny things is that I didn’t have to touch the leveling feet as everything was level upon initial install.

Source water:

The water where I live is rather hard so I wanted an RO unit that could keep pace. Went to Bulkreef Supply and the 6 stage I wanted was out of stock at the time so I purchased a 6 stage plus and added their 200 GPD water saver upgrade. Should be able to fill the tank in one go.

It will be mounted in a small walk-in closet with the tubing run through the ceiling over to the tank.

So I have my first dilemma. Was shopping on BRS buying plumbing, skimmer etc. was looking to buy my return but both pumps I’m considering have some unflattering reviews. The Cor20 from Neptune appears to have power supply issues while the Vectra L2 from ecotech runs hot.

Now I’m considering a Various-6 from Reef Octopus.

Thoughts and experiences please with either of the 3 pumps.

(Would also consider a vectra M2)

My m2 has been running great so far. I haven't sync'd it up to mobius because it will occasionally drop a light or not connect to 1 or 2 lights when I got to manually control them. I just don't have enough trust in that app to have it control something that critical.

I'm probably going to run the m2 on my next setup to start off but eventually I plan to upgrade to a various 8 for that system. I believe the 8 would be a more direct comparison to the L2. I've still got a WaterBlaster running my 50g salt mixing station that I've had running on multiple systems. I believe that was one of the first real return pumps I ever bought in this hobby and it was used.

Thank you I appreciate the input. Leaning more towards a various now given that it comes path it’s own remote and has the Apex connection as well. I need fully reliable for the return pump.

What is everyone using for lighting under their stands these days? I used to have a LED fixture that was triggered by a BOB when the door opened. Been looking at some of these strip LED’s on Amazon and I like what I’m seeing.

Another small change I’m considering making. This one is in regards to lighting.

My initial intent again was/is to go with the reerbrite XHO add-on kit.

Upon searching a bit more of run across reerbrite X series quad light setup. Let me know your thoughts.

I think it depends on if you are going to have a hood, or if it'll be open top. If open top, then I'm not sure I love the way the reefbrite X series fixture looks. But if a hood, then I'd totally go that direction.

Just my 2 cents.

Still have quite figured out what direction I want to go with that. When Trent was delivering my tank he mentioned that CDA is going to start offering a actuating canopy and I may go for that. As of now it looks like I may end up suspending the lights over the tank otherwise.
