After years in keeping Lps only, I finally decided to add a acro into my tank, I never a fan on stick until I see this beautiful pink acro at the San Diego show last week. The pink pops out a lot even without the orange glasses, so I decided to give it a try, I am new on acro ! Any tips or suggestions keeping it please share with me :) and I looking forward to add more if this one doing well.

Stability is the key. Slightly off or bad(ish) parameters that are very stable will be much more successful than great parameters that jump around. The most important parameter for acros, for me at least, seems to be alkalinity so keep that as stable as you can. Good luck with it and I’m sorry for the future because you will become just as addicted to sticks as the rest of us

That’s what I worry, I play with water too much. Just ordered a frag tank so I don’t have to keep put my hand in the display .

thank you, how stable has to be? Would it be too much swing if my alk weekly going up and down around 8.45-8.75 ?
lol yea, guess I have to pay to learn 🤣

No that shouldn’t be too bad, I don’t dose anything until a water change (which is weekly), and so over the week some parameters like alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium will slowly trickle down until I replenish them in the water change. So I think your going to be fine with them if that’s your swing in alk.

Agree on alk, temp and salinity in that order. I lost a few sensitive acros when my temp dipped to 73 degrees for 6 hours due to a heater malfunction.

Good luck!

I see. Thank you for the info. Seems the most important part for acros are stable alk. I have put two heaters in the sump to be safe , just in case whichich ever one fails I have the other one still running won’t dramatically drop too low.

How about I just add one acro every year then ?😅
You'll be lucky to get by just adding one a week. That frag tank will soon be a hoarding tank, then you'll add another frag tank that will become a hoarding tank. I think you already know this trend since you have like 6 tanks. LOL
