I think I'm going to go with Bubble Magus Curve 7 elite but can't seem to find enough reviews. Anyone have any past experience with this skimmer? If not, what do you think would be a good skimmer for 100g plus 20g sump with light bioload? Thanks

The curve elite line from bubble magus is a good buy on a budget with reliable sicce pump.
That's what I'm looking for in a skimmer, something cheap that works really well lol. Sounds good to me, appreciate it!!

I love my Nyos. It is far supperior to the SImplicity skimmer I had before and the Reef Octopus I run on my smaller tank.
I currently have a Nyos 120 running and was thinking of going with the Nyos 160, however, I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews for the 160. My 120 used to run really good at one point but it's been a long time since I had a good cup of dirty skimmer water so I decided not to go with Nyos anymore. I do appreciate the feedback, thanks so much! I was also thinking of going with the Reef Octopus skimmer but leaning more towards the Bubble Magnus. Anyways, thanks again, have a good weekend

How is the C/S for Nyos?
What do you mean by C/S?

Of all my skimmers, my Fav is the Red Sea 300 with a Sicce PSK DC controllable pump. Not the stupid kit RS sells, but the one Sicce sells. Has a variable footprint, Large cup with a drain and a neck cleaner which is key. That build up is what slows the efficiency of your skimmer down.

I would stay away from Nyos for two reasons, first (unless they updated it?) the pump is under powered and has difficulty restarting without help, second, too many parts to clean/take apart for maintenance. A skimmer is only as good as the pump, so look for something reliable and make sure it's a simple design. I always hear good things about Reef Octopus skimmers, but I'm a fan of Tunze and Deltec skimmers, they just work. Maybe look for used ones?

I stick with RO skimmers. Like others said, easy to find replacement parts and varios pump.

Just got done cleaning the neck, will keep them clean more often from now on lol. Thanks for the reply!

I think I might try going with the Reef Octopus skimmer, it looks like a lot of people like their products. I agree, the Nyos is a pain in the pooper when it comes to restartng the pump after cleaning, I have to take it apart 2 or, sometimes even, 3 times, messing around with the propeller to make it go again. It's been doing that for an awful long time, however it's been good to me for the last year or so I did run into my old big Bubble Magnus skimmer that was up for sale at my LFS, I sold it to him thinking it was overkill; now I'm fixing to take it back lol.

I’ll offer a different idea. Tunze 9410 dc. I’ve owned a lot of skimmers in my day from cheap to super premium. The 9410 is one of my favorites, set and forget. I had an AC version and then a DC version. If money was no object I’d still buy the 9410 though it’s mid-priced.

I have the Tunze 9410 DC and for me I find it difficult to remove and clean, due to my mobility issues, I kinda need a skimmer with the pump inside of it. It is a great skimmer, maybe I can rotate back into the line up.
