This month's topic will be "Clams! Clams! Clams".

Let's see those clams!

Post the type of clams if it has one!

The goal is to participate in this great community and practice your skills. Whether you are showing your best fish or simply learning to post pictures, you are all welcome to try.

The winner will get:

Bragging rights and just the satisfaction of sharing a photo with the reefing community. I can ask @EyeReef if he still has any SCR goodies, but looking at our Sponsors list...you might have to settle for a virtual high five...and the coveted POTM badge! :giggle: This local forum is going to be as good as we all make it! (y) Sending out good vibes to everyone who participates!

Here is how it works:
  • Each member can submit ONE photo entry into the POTM contest.
  • The photo must be one that you have taken. No pulling pictures from other forums, websites, etc.
  • Submit your photo right here onto this thread for participation.
  • There must be more than 5 entries in order for it to be a contest.
  • All entries will then be placed into a poll.
  • Photos can be submitted from now until the 22nd.
  • Optional: Would be nice to know what you are shooting with or filters used so we all can learn.
After October 22th (or around that time based on my schedule), a 7 days poll will go up and everyone on the forum can decide the winner.

I have to say, it is hard to capture the true color and look of the clam when shot through the tank glass vs. the top-down. The top-down is way more vibrant.

Nice crocea! Yeah, all my pics are iPhone pics, so they're not great or very detailed. Whites bring out more of those orange markings around the lighter blue spots.
Thanks. I won the clam a few years ago in a Polo Reef Christmas giveaway. It came from Clam Mania and has been easy to keep. I will try and get a better picture with more whites. I need to stop being lazy when taking pictures.

Just FYI, if you use gmail, check your security settings. Polo Reef uses an outsourced online raffling company to run their giveaways, and the company can install a tracker that gives access to your gmail for marketing purposes. I got a full-on case of identity theft and my brother, who is a computer forensics person, helped me trace it to the add-on tracker, which he suggests may have been a quiet data breach, no malicious intent by the company and they may not even know it happened, but the tracker access lets hackers download your ENTIRE inbox--I know this also because I've had Facebook deactivated for over a decade, you can't even search me on it, and I started getting emails from Facebook about changing my password after the identity theft started. It would have to be someone looking a decade back into my email to find it or someone who knew me way back when randomly deciding to give it a go. Anyway, can't hurt to check on your security settings:
Go into Manage Your Account, then Privacy & Personalization, and just take a look around at what/who has access to your data. I found a tracker for the website managing the Polo Reef raffles and deleted it.

Unofficial entry!

CBB started taking an interest in the new squamosa, and I had to make a clam cage. Hopefully give this guy a bit of time to recover (looks like he's much better in the cage), and maybe the CBB loses interest or it gets big enough to sustain a few nips.

I'll try to take a decent cage-less photo sometime soon!

Please forgive the sloppy substrate, here are a couple recently acquired clams (bottom one is a cultured Squamosa and the top one is purportedly also a Squamosa, but I suspect may be a Maxima)

Blue Squammies were like a holy grail back in the days. It's kind of crazy now that it is accessible.

Yes, surprisingly well. The anemones tentacles will lay right across the clams mantle and the clam doesn't seem to notice it. I thought for sure I was going to have to move the anemones, which would have been an exercise in frustration in this little tank.
