Hey everyone — the forum is finally back up.
I wanted to thank all of you for the patience these past few days. Honestly, this was one of the more stressful situations I’ve dealt with regarding the site. Our old server unexpectedly failed and because it was running on an outdated environment, the recovery and migration process took way longer than I ever expected.
Thankfully, everything was recovered and we’ve now been moved onto a newer server. We still have plans to move to a more reliable host.
This whole situation also made me realize something:
SoCaliReefs has always been more than just a forum.
Over the years this place has become:
That’s really what makes this community special.
Moving forward, I want to shift the direction of SoCaliReefs back toward the local reefing community and making this place more active, supportive, and hobbyist-focused again.
One thing I’ll be doing differently is opening up FREE sponsorship opportunities for local fish stores.
I’m not looking for stores that just want to advertise and disappear. I want stores that actually want to be part of the community:
If a store genuinely contributes to the community, I’m happy to support them back. So please reach out to your favorite LFS and see if they are interested.
Also, any membership/supporter fees going forward will primarily go back into the community itself:
This was a rough week, but honestly I think it may end up pushing the forum in a better direction long term.
Appreciate all of you that stuck around and checked in while things were down. We’re back up now, and hopefully this next chapter of SoCaliReefs ends up being the best one yet. Shout-out to mods that makes this possible. You know who you guys are!

Over the years this place has become:
- local reefers helping each other
- friendships
- build threads
- coral trades
- emergency tank help at 11pm
- people celebrating successes and helping others through crashes
That’s really what makes this community special.

- staying active on the forum
- helping hobbyists
- offering occasional member discounts
- participating in giveaways
- supporting local reef events and the hobby overall
