I saw a new shipment of some Mandarin Goby's and always wanted one. My fuge has been up for about 1 1/2 months and when I started it. I poured around 1,500 copepods and around 500 on the main tank. I see the copepods growing in the fuge and doing great. My question is... Should I save one? The guy said they are s new shipment and does not know if they will eat frozen foods and at the moment they are out of copepods at the store... The fish is in good shape and active... Need input please... I hate seeing these fatty fishes and turning into a toothpick... :dontknow:

i would try if you have enough for him to eat
I am thinking of picking it up but just to be safe probably going to buy another bottle of expensive copepodsto pour into the main tank...

Goby = $19.99
Copepods = $20.00
Misc Frozed Foods = $10.00

I dont know.... I will feel really bad if he dies in my tank :afraid:

How long have you had your tank up and running. Word on the street says that Manderins or any of the "Scooter" family shouldn't be introduced for over a year after the initial tank set up. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule, but that will give you a starting point.

I have bought fish that I knew were "make it or break it". This particular store I sometimes buy from seems to get all wild caught. And he's willing to deal on prices I think because he knows they may or may not eat.

I had some Anthias. Bought four for a very very good price and watched them wither away in my tank. They ate frozen food, but only the smallest, tiniest, littlest particals.
I would have had to spoiled my water to get enough in there for them to eat.
But I had I succeeded? I would have had some awesome fish for an awesome price.

I buy, when I buy, off of Ebay. Copepods that is. And from this guy, Always happy.

Thanks for the info. I think I will hold off on it until I establish an insane amount of pods in my display and fuge... It's just one of those feelings that where you know next week when you go back and visit the fish that you know it will be in starving condition... I always feel bad... I'm one of those people who always watches Animal Planet, National Geographic, Planet Earth, etc....

My new tank is only running for 3 months... I should have kept my nanocube running that tank had alot of pods in there...
