Not much room. About 5-6” clearance. It’s the whole reason I’m not running the deltec I have now on this. That is 23” tall so was gonna be way too tight

Look for a Randall's pistol shrimp and not a Tiger. The Randall's stay smaller, plus I think they look a little better too. My YWG and Randall's get along nicely. They have circled around the tank a few times, so make sure your rock work is nice and secure to the glass and you'll be fine. Mine even made it's burrow next to the glass for a while, so it was fun to watch them do their thing.

That's great to know. I did a tiger once before in a smaller tank and that didn't last too long. I'll look for a randalls

Man, barley got enough water to run it. Rock is in. Here’s what the silhouette looks like

Im undecided if the far right piece is gonna stay. I’m worried it’s going to look crowded once my current rock is in the middle.

This things a beast. 15 minutes in and we’ve got a foam ball
I plugged in the 2 6105 with wide angle grills amd that was pushing some serious water. Dead silent too. Maxed them out for a moment and still barely audible.

now the wave box….. I gotta pull that thing apart and check it out. There is no way that’s the noise it should be making.

Is it a DC pump?
my nyos quantum 160 is a bit noisy but I guess its quiet as can be for a AC pump.

That is by far, my favorite skimmer.

It is a DC pump. Full blast it makes a whirling noise but I'd say it's comparable to my Deltec skimmer. I don't think I'll need to run this thing full blast normally though, I'm just trying to clear the water.

Any sand displacement with 6105’s running full blast?

Oh yeah. Even now I'm at 50% and getting some displacement. That's going to be a challenge on this tank. Figuring out flow without ending up with all the sand on one side.

I've gotta say I'm very happy with the lighting combo. I really didn't expect the kessil's shimmer to cut through the t5s but it's actually does.

I gotta figure out this wave box, it's loud as all hell and from what I'm reading that's not right. Its like the box is acting like a speaker for the pump so something must be off in there. I also need to find a solution to running a tunze off my overflow, the magnets not holding well enough.

Looks great Matt what made you go back to sand?
Honestly just being able to keep sand dwelling wrasse and it looks a little more natural. Also, this tank is taller so I think I can get the flow I want without having a total sandstorm. I will say it makes the rock look a little less drastic as far as the ledges and all that, which isn't a bonus in my eyes.

I saw a Frag Box YouTube video recently and they said the but the external Magnet in a ziplock bag I believe and then put it in the over flow.
I didn't even think of that portion of it. I always assumed they were sealed as well, they look the same to me? I'll have to hit up Tunze.

My issue is the glass on the overflow is 1/2" with the 1/4" acrylic on top of that. The pump just doesn't have the strength to hold 3/4 for me. I bought it used and am missing those little clear rubber stickers, so maybe that's the issue I'm not sure.

or i could just trade u my magnet that i'm using on my brute mixing trashcan and is super wasted on there :ROFLMAO:. i have a 6065 so it came with a 3/4" magnet. i had in my DT with 15mm glass for awhile, it should get the job done

i love my tunze skimmer, but it has this thing where it shoots out small bubbles and thus my entire sump area is just salt creep for days. i was gonna get a different skimmer, but i emailed tunze and apparently putting some vegetable oil on the slits should eliminate this issue

Ah, gotcha. So just the outside magnet would be larger. Yeah I'd be down to trade magnets.

So where are the bubbles coming from? The output on your skimmer?

yeah, but it should work i think?

the slits on the top where it locks in i guess. my top doesn't look like your top? i figured all of their in sump skimmers were the same just sized differently, but the tops are different apparently
