I’m going to have to go around the backside of my house. So I’m thinking of building a floor dolly with some inflatable knobbie casters to get through my grass. That way I’m though my slider and it’s one lift up onto the stand.
I don't think inflatable casters is going to hold that beast's weight. Let me know if you need help moving the tank in, if I'm free that day, I'll can stop by.

Sounds good! I was thinking they could hold more but maybe not. Hate to find out the hard way. It'll just be a long carry if it comes down to that.

We'll see if it ships this week. I still haven't gotten a request for the second half of the deposit yet.

On your floating canopy, leave the top open.
I was thinking that should help with heat. I've got a 6" can right above where it's going. I'm almost tempted to put a vent insert there but not sure if that would be any more efficient in regards to running the AC. I wonder if the ac would work harder cooling the warm air from the canopy or making up for vented air?

You will need 4 people at at minimum. It helps that your stand is a bit lower, but it is still no small task. I borrowed 4 industrial suction cups from my friend that is a glass contractor and with 4 people it was still sketchy moving my 180gl. If it gets delivered on a weekday, let me know and I can come help when i am in the area for work.

Awesome man I appreciate that.

I've always been scared of the suction cups. My brother and I got my MODE180g ourselves but that was a little sketch and the stand was tall. I thought maybe this wouldn't be all that bad but I am worried about the dims and it being in a corner. I'm thinking I'll have to slide it into place on the stand once close.
Maybe I'm under estimating it though. I'm sure the shipping will have some poundage details. 4 guys is probably best.

Your place is single story IIRC? You could vent right out the side of the house.

If so, close the top of the canopy and run a 4” duct and a 4” bilge blower. They are like $25 and run on 12VDC. Hook a wall wart to your APEX and pump that heat out of the house when the halides are on.

You can also get one of those remote fart fan blowers but those are a lot more money.

Outdoor sump and sump based equipment is what I was thinking about. I'm just not sure how practical it would be to try and insulate it from both temperature and critters. We have an insane black widow population at this place. It would be the perfect area though, maybe gets an hour of sunlight but then is shaded the rest of the day. It's also all cement over there. It has drains but those are rain run off to the gutter so I wouldn't want to be sending my tank water down there.

This tank will be near a window so if I do need to drain/or water change every once in a while that won't be too hard if the sump stays inside. I dont do regular water changes, specially on a larger tank. I feel the bigger the tank the more programs like reef moonshiner trace element programs start to pay for themselves in salt costs.

I feel like I saw someone around here with an outdoor frag section and sump. I think Jimmy had his outside too, I'll have to figure out how to hit him up and see what he did to insulated it and if it was worth the effort. With a herbie I'd imagine it would be close to dead quite though. That'd be nice.
Check out my build dude!

I plumbed my sump outside to a shed that only gets an hour or so of direct sunlight. The temperature fluctuation hasn't been horrible (especially if you have it well-ventilated), but it certainly fluctuates a ton more than in my air-conditioned/heated house. The way I look at it, the body of water inside is so much larger than the body of water outside that it should only have a small impact on the tank temperature. If we lived in Minnesota or somewhere like that, then we'd have a different situation. So far, I'm pretty happy with the set-up and the ease of doing things where I don't have to get under the stand.

Hit me up if you ever want to come check it out!

Duuuude, hahah I knew I had seen an outdoor sump recently and couldn't put my finger on it! I'll be looking through that now, thank you! I'll take you up on that offer when I get ready to start building it out.

Bro, when you get your tank just let me and my twin @OGFrenchHorn know and we will make quick work of that tank. Lol. Oh wait, i have a bad back but i can still help carry a corner 😉🤝👍
Sounds good bud! I will.

I'm still waiting to hear back from CD for confirmation on it getting sent out this week. Either way when they come I'm just gonna have them drop it in the garage and then plan the actual move.

Heres another idea...my SGV bros have helped me move so many of my tanks with the addition of a simply built wooden cart on casters. That was my boy @jimmy007 idea. Super simple and makes it a breeze 👍

We had 4 guys on my tank down my side yard, then two more once there was room for more people. We almost died. My tank is 3/4" glass with steel top and bottom. Suction cups are a must.

I think 4 guys should be no problem for that tank. I'm not built for moving, but I'll drink your beer and point. :p

Ha! You're more than welcome to drink and point. Give me some garden decor tips too since I tore into my backyard, managed to give myself a hernia and now it just looks like a dump back there.

Well that's good to know. I was thinking it can't be a ton heavier than my 180g but it'll only fit through the slider doors so its gonna be a haul for sure.

Probably could actually, i've got 34" to work with so that'd be 4-5" clearance on each side. That's probably where the suction cups would help out, rotating seems like that's where things would go wrong without them.

FYI….when my tank was delivered the delivery guy had a pallet jack, furniture dollies and the thingy to lift the tank up onto the stand. I did have 3 guys come over and help with the move (not me pictured). And the delivery guy was helpful as well.

That's great to hear. It would be nice to get it in and set in it's spot so I don't have to move it 2x.
