So I bought a clam at RAP

As usual everything was going good until I got home, I put him in the tank and he seemed happy and was out, the next day closed up and for 4 days he is pretty much closed up. The tank is mature and I have mushrooms and anemones. At first I was getting a lot of fish swimming over head so I thought that bugged him so I move it a little over so not right down grand central in the tank. but it still is closed up. The tank is a IM Lagoon 25 ext with two AI Rimes HD.
Any ideas or directions?

Strong lighting and good flow. Feeding it phytoplankton will also help.

Are you using liquid phosphate remover? That will kill clams.

Did you drip acclimate it or just put it in the tank? Clams especially need a long drip acclimation period. I may be getting it wrong but I believe it is because they are pretty pH sensitive.

Yes on lighting and good flow, and I feed phytoplankton for the first time last night.
No I have not used phosphate remover while the clam has been in the tank.

I did not drip acclimate, I pour water in the bag slowly, waited until I doubled the water volume.

What kind of clam is it? Where is it placed? Do you know how much PAR it is getting? I see you have two AI primes--ideal location would be in a hot spot where the lights overlap. You cannot give a clam too much light (except perhaps during light acclimation).

So I am 99.9% sure this clams is dead, it fell over and I tried to move it the foot was dissolved, and the clam is clam shut.
It is hard to believe that it could die in 5 days. This is why I keep trying to be strong and not buy coral from RAP, I do much better buying from people's systems at home. So I am super bummed.

I recently bought a couple clams (maxima & squamosa) from PIA and they came in super clean (no pests) and have done amazing in my tank. I have them under sps lighting around 300+ par. They were a bit pricier than other places but you get what u...u know the rest.

Don’t think it was the clam or show. I know where they are kept. They are not mishandled or kept for a short time. This is likely water quality. If corals didn’t do well from shows, this would be known and ppl would not buy.

Not acclimating the clam is certainly can cause some major issues, unless your parameters were identical to the water they cam from? All clams require a lot of light, as they come from very shallow waters. Phyto is completely unnecessary for clams, but can help ailing clams recover. They gather 99% of their energy from light, but do require some nitrogen intake, which is easy enough if you feed your fish. My guess is the lack of acclimation was the initial shock and the clam didn't have enough time to recover. Clams are very complex animals that have organs, heart, stomach, gills, etc...so they need to acclimate very slowly to new conditions. Maxima and crocea require more light than squamosa, derasa and gigas, but I treat all clams the same and give them as much light as I can. If you want to keep clams or are considering keeping clams, then buy James Fatherree's new book on clams, it's $36 or so on Amazon and he's about to release a second addition very soon.

i was at their booth as it was happening - guy stated it was mating time. Went back later and water was murkier and had gunk floating around. Happened right around when the show started, i got in at about 1110 or so Saturday morning.

I'm sorry about that loss. If it was the vendor I'm guessing, I saw them at CFM and was very unimpressed. In contrast to what @drexel said, the vendor tried selling me on the idea that croceas are the easiest to keep and only need 200 PAR, people on the forum don't know anything, and a bit more blah blah, but I lost track because I couldn't take my eyes of a huge aiptasia sitting in the slot of a clam and wondering if that clam was going to make it.
