Need advice on a 300-gallon (96"L x 24"H x 30"D) FOWLR tank build. Tank ordered (acrylic) and also metal stand (2"x2" tubular steel). Wifey and I want a nice clean look like the one pictured below. I was going to have someone help me build the cabinetry (MDF?) and then we'd have it painted high gloss white/lacquer. Is that the best approach or is there another option? And if anyone can do this for me, please PM me w/ pricing and details. Thanks!

If you have a steel stand and the skin is not structural MDF will be fine.

If you want the "best" there is actual marine plywood that is salt water proof.

If it is just the skin, I'd probably go MDF for Baltic Birch plywood myself.

You only want to have to do it once so I'd avoid MDF if it were me. If you want that gloss piano finish like CADlights stands have then you are looking for formica in gloss white. I'd use 3/4" plywood then contact cement the formica to the plywood. Over cut the formica then trim flush with a router. If you want it real clean counter sink some coated rare earth magnets before you cement the formica on the back side of the panels. Then you can fully remove all panels for max access under the tank.

You can have the lumber yard/ or HD/ Lowes cut the plywood for you. Then all you need is the router and two bits, and a heavy roller to do the rest yourself. There is a formica wholesale that sells to the public in Cypress, I believe a 8x10 sheet of gloss white was around $58 bucks last time I bought it.

Don't get the low VOC contact, get the original formula (red label) in the quart or larger you'll go through more than you think.

That makes a lot of sense. Thank you!

Hey guys (and gals) - As it turns out, I won't have the time and tools to embark on this as DIY project. So, looking for any referrals for someone who can help me out on this project. Thanks!

So it is done! Had Cabinets Plus cut the paneling to my specifications and rare earth magnets took care of the rest. So happy with my cabinetry design...simple removal of panels on all sides for easy maintenance access. Most importantly, the fish seem very happy!

All the flooring was re-done when we moved in a few weeks ago...don't ask me how much leveling cement was used. (And leveling feet on the stand didn't hurt...) Lol
What was the ballpark on the cabinetry? I was going to do mine myself but yours looks very good.
