Just wanted to post a quick thank you thread to Sahn/Lowbudget.
Some of you may know I've had a rough year. My wife divorced me and as a result I lost a lot. My business, my car, my money, my house, less time with my son and even my aquarium.
Lawyers fees are crazy and sucked me dry. I've been wanting to set up another tank but financially it's been tough as I'm still trying to put life in order. Luckily I work somewhere where I have opportunities to play with coral and fish, but when your three old son asks you all the time what happened to nemo it makes you really want a tank.
I love this hobby a lot. I grew up in the industry and have always had a tank since I was four years old and have a lot of great memories related to this hobby. I've met amazing people through reef keeping and for every craigslist flipper out there are good people like Sahn, Gumbii, Cody or even Esteban. I'm convinced that deep down even wiener boy is a good dude.
Without me asking him Sahn told me he wanted to give me a tank. I was humbled and so grateful. I don't even have a car at the moment since I lost that in the divorce and couldn't get the tank from Sahn. I know we joke all the time about people wanted free stuff delivered around here. Well Sahn actually brought this 24g nano cube to me on his lunch break. That's a solid reef bro.
I was very excited and scrubbed and cleaned it out. The lights on the hood didn't work so I took the hood off. I had some flex tubing and a mj1200 in the garage and hooked it up.
I put it on the floor to finish setting up later. Then my son came over and he was so excited! He asked if nemo was coming back to live with us and wouldn't stop staring at the tank. The empty tank lol! It made me think it might be nice to keep the tank low like that so he can see everything easy. The tank is next to the front door. Outside is a big drop off where the porch ends so I knew I could still get a gravity suction going when I wanted to clean it there. So I decided to fill her up. I had some dry rock left over and grabbed a few pieces more from a tank at work to seed it.
Finally I added nemo(davinci clown)
my son was thrilled. I am thrilled lol. Its not fancy but man it feels good to have a tank at my place again. I never realized how much it meant to me until one was up and running again.
I know this isn't the most exciting "build" thread, there wasn't much to build, but I just wanted to say thanks to my little china lover Sahn for being an awesome dude!
