:conf44:Alright, so I really want to add a Yellow tang to my livestock and the only concern I have is my Salfin tang which is about 3" to 3.5" I was wondering what are the odds of him picking at the yellow if added (which might be pretty darn good) considering the fact that when I added the chocolate tang he made it known for the first 6-8 hrs that he is the boss in that 60 gl tank, he's left him alone now. I did see some tangs that are bigger at the LFS and its been on my mind adding it or not. I know its a 50-50 with this thing and maybe 75-50 due to the same body type of the fish. What do you guys think? :dontknow:

my old tank (only 40 gallons) had about 10 tangs (ranging 3-5 inches) in it at one time.. scopas, blue, yellow, salfin, powder, naso, purple, etc... I just really loved tangs and their colors. But everytime I added someone new, they get their a$$ kicked.. there'll be fights for a day or two and over time the rest of the residence got used to the new addition and everything calmed down again... Fortunately when i added a new tang, it was already used to eating pellet food, so i'd just spot feed them when they are hiding away in the rocks/corner from the other tangs... Keep its energy up til the other tangs stop harassing it and everyone could live in peace... thats just my experience of it... God I miss that tank.. :-(...

Tank is too small; even if you get a small one they need open swimming area, lots of LR to graze and high oxygen content. I'm not in favor of "they seem healthy" and other such "proof" that tangs (1, 2 or a dozen) can do well in small tanks. get a 6' or larger tank or don't keep tangs.

Yeah, they should've been in a bigger tank but my roommates would've had a fit... Those guys ate sooo much food and were so fat... It was pretty fun feeding them... Well, the good news is that they all survived and hopefully they're in a better home now, sold them on craigslist before I moved out.

10 tangs in a 40g is nuts, im very surprised they weren't poisoned by all the waste they were creating not to mention very unhappy regardless if they looked fine, i wouldnt put even one tang in that 60g.

a 60 gal is kinda small.the real problem is that the one tang that is already in your tank has made it his home.so he will defend it.if you add 2 the smae time you have a mutch better chance.if you do get one put him in right before you turn the lights out for the night and it will have a better chance of blending in.

So are u saying add 2 yellow Tangs? Same size as my salfin or slightly bigger?
no you do not have to add 2 at the same time.the sailfin is going to beat up the yellow because he has already claimed the tank as his home.when you see alot of the same kind of tangs in a tank, they are usualy added at the same time
