Have home owners or renters insurance? They'll cover it all.
I have renters insurance(I live in apt) they most likely wouldn't cover the tools... and plus tools were under 200(main/most tools on work truck at office)
So paying the detectable I'd probably break even... and my policy rate could potentially go up also... so its not worth it...

Yeah my husbands car got broken into about 6 months ago and we found the same thing.... the way the insurance company does it is weird and screws you big time.... some things that were stolen were covered on the homeowners policy and other things were covered on the auto policy, & when you combine the deductibles together it definitely was not worth it for us to make a claim and to top it off, like you said, are premium very likely would have gone up, too. it sucks that you pay all that money for insurance in and can't use it when you need it! they really know how to screw us don't they!

Well if you decide your going to buy the parts and not use any insurance ... I work at a honda dealer so I could help you get parts cheaper , I don't think those dash parts are cheap but a discount is better then no discount...
