So I run a gfo for the first time, rinse it follow the direction add 6 cups few hours later my tank turn orange ....
For 3 days my tank was so cloudy and orange to find out the maxijett 1200 is too much for the gfo on aquamax XL and avast mutiny 3 carbon reactor . So dial it down and switch the pump location 2 hours later tank clears up. Finally I can see the casualty, 5 colonies are totally RTN, 5 are partial , 5 STN on the bottom, all of this are the one that got stung bad by the shedded anemone tentacles. The 32 colonies PE are out and hoping for a come back

I don't usually respond to your thread...........
But it's 2014 soon wtf, Gfo must be ran through 2-4 gallons of tank water, old or new or even rodi if your fancy, before addition to your tank in a separate area like your sink.
1)clean out old Gfo sponges and reactor with high pressure hose
2) dry it all out, ring it out
3) add new high quality Gfo
4) make sure reactor is sealed tight and run a good 2-4 gallons of some type of Tank or rodi water through it till it's crystal clear in the reactor and not kicking up any dust.
5) zip tie a small sock on the outlet for two days.
6) make sure it's a slow churn not a fast tumble inside the reactor. I use the Aquamaxx XL and the 1200 MJ is perfect at 45%-60% flow. In use 3.5 cups of rowaphos every month.
I went with a 900 maxi and at full power didn't get the job done. The churn was off.
7) watch your corals get nice because they like clean water during the day and messy water when they eat.
Or just run it through a fine sock.
I've done the Gfo cloud but my skimmer pulled all of it out with in minutes. I would have done a wc and stopped all pumps and let the skimmer run extra wet.
I think you irritated the skin on the acros and Gfo changes a lot chemistry including ph and food availability to pods, corals, everyone. Die off plus irritants= death.
Also are you using fine sponges along with the plastic holey plates in each side? Gotta have sponges and a sock on the outlet for the first day.
