Pprice01, we assume that the smaller magnets were used to reduce cost. Just about all tanks 4' or shorter have glass that is 1/2" thick or less, so the stock magnets will work fine for the large majority of users.

BeanMachine, we will be giving these a test ourselves on 1/2" glass when they arrive later this month. An upgraded magnet should not be needed for 1/2" glass. There are a couple of options to make the pump more secure:

1. You can use the Gyre Pump Magnet Grip Pads. They are available on CoralVue's website for $6.00.

2. You can use the Vortech trick. Use a cord mounting tab (these can be found in most hardware stores) to hold the weight of the pump. Then use the magnet for positioning. It's also a great safety measure for those rare occasions where the magnet get knocked off accidentally.

xmas_one, from what we are being told, the XF130 will be the smallest model made. The two single-sided pump in the images is simply a pump with one of the paddles removed and a cap installed. The cap is currently under development and will be made available at a later date.
what about for us who has a 1" thick acrylic?:(

My Tank Build

Thanks for the link emac, I'm glad they showed it in a frag tank. Been debating witch one to get for my frag tank which is 48"x30"x12".
No prob. I would of like to see them put it on alternating gyre mode in that 29bio cube.
I'm really happy with the xf150's on the 300. Even the corals seem to look better. My sapphire milli lost color with the mp60 beating it up. Now the color is coming back and I'm seeing growth on it and a few other corals too.

The Maxspect Gyre XF130 was shipped to us last Friday; we are just awaiting delivery and anticipate being able to fulfill all MD pre-orders this week.

I'd say the fx150 is to strong for any tank (with sand) that's under 4'.
When I was beta testing I took the beta to a local shop (called pet world) they put it in there 360* walk around show tank that is 4'X4'X2'. I told the boss to let me control it before he started messing with it. But no he insisted that its in his tank he needs to control it. He started it at full power on constant mode. It dam near knocked every color off the rocks and knocked a few rocks over too. He ripped it out so fast and was all pissed off. I told him to let me do it and I'll show him how it works but by then he was already pissed.

MaxSpect does not indicate a minimum flow rate. However, they do note that the XF150 can be used on aquariums as short as 36" long.

If horizontal position is pushing the sand around too much, it can be positioned vertically.

Thanks Eric and Marinedepot! It just seems like the 130 will be ok but would like to have more than the 2300 gph it produces. I understand that the Gyre produces a gyre flow which is very different than a stream. I have a mp 10 full blast on pulse mode and a tunze 6045. I diff need more flow. Both of them together produce 2688 gph in the tank. I feel the gyre xf130 might not be enough with the 2300 gph it produces. So was thinking maybe i would need the xf150 and just set it on low and would have the option to also use it in my future upgrade. Hope this makes sense. Sorry for my rambling lol
