A new, smaller Gyre will be arriving soon to Marine Depot—so we just put the pump on the site to begin so you can pre-order and reserve a unit from our first shipment.

Here are a few of the key differences between the Gyre XF130 and the recently released XF150:

 • The XF130 has 35 watts of power versus 50 watts for the XF150.
 • The XF130 is 9" x 1.8" x 2.1" compared to the XF150's 11.8" x 2.9" x 2.4" dimensions
 • The max glass/acrylic thickness the XF130 can be used on is 1/2" versus 3/4" for the XF150

We anticipate delivery mid to late January.

Why drop the thickness its capable of handling?
Maybe the overall size? I want this one but my glass is 1/2 inch and the feedback on the first XF150's wasn't all that great on the strength of the magnet.
MarineDepot - Do I need an magnet kit upgrade? Can you find out for us? This size would be perfect for my 4 foot tank.

Would love to know this too, my 65g has 1/2" glass and I've been waiting for this, but the 1/2" max makes me leery.

I do really want to try one just figure I might as well order the stronger magnet while I'm at it if that is necessary.

The bigger model barely holds on 3/4" glass. I had to add extra magnets to make it stronger.

That's what I'm afraid of being my tank is 1/2"... did you get their upgrade or used something else?
I used tunze magnets to add extra strength. I don't think the upgrade magnet is available yet. I've checked everywhere, no place sells them.
The last time I checked with Carlos, he said there was no eta on those magnets.

Pprice01, we assume that the smaller magnets were used to reduce cost. Just about all tanks 4' or shorter have glass that is 1/2" thick or less, so the stock magnets will work fine for the large majority of users.

BeanMachine, we will be giving these a test ourselves on 1/2" glass when they arrive later this month. An upgraded magnet should not be needed for 1/2" glass. There are a couple of options to make the pump more secure:

1. You can use the Gyre Pump Magnet Grip Pads. They are available on CoralVue's website for $6.00.

2. You can use the Vortech trick. Use a cord mounting tab (these can be found in most hardware stores) to hold the weight of the pump. Then use the magnet for positioning. It's also a great safety measure for those rare occasions where the magnet get knocked off accidentally.

xmas_one, from what we are being told, the XF130 will be the smallest model made. The two single-sided pump in the images is simply a pump with one of the paddles removed and a cap installed. The cap is currently under development and will be made available at a later date.
