OK. So I am getting closer to ordering a new tank. I originally wanted a peninsula, but that won't work for the room its being required to go in (thank you wifey). That being said, I am looking to get a tank somewhere close to these dimensions.

72 L x 36 W x 24 T which is about 270 gallons. It will have a external ghost overflow or something similar. Bean Animal style.

The plan is to get an AGE with steel perimeter bracing top and bottom, PVC bottom, acrylic splash guard, and drilled for the overflow.

How would you light the new tank?

What would you change?

If you have a similarly sized tank with a large bioload, which skimmer would you choose?

Any suggestions?

If budget were no issue, go MH with a chiller. But I think you need to figure out what kind of lighting you want first because lighting a 7ft tank with T5 mights be difficult but if you wanted MH, then it can be done much easier.

6 foot tank sir.

Nah no Metal Halide and Chiller hehehe although I like your thinking... LED / T5 is the plan. I was thinking a 60" fixture, 10 lamp. **Edit - looks like I can only get an 8 lamp fixture.

Floating canopy with some kind of lift system. That's the plan anyway.

mine is 36" wide and 24" tall too and I love that width and height! My old tank was 30" tall and while that looked great it was too hard to reach the bottom. 24" is so so so much better. 36" width is awesome too.

Get a 6 lamp fixture and a 4 lamp fixture and put Kessils in the middle of them. you're not worried to much about looks since it'll be in canopy.

Also, think about how you're going to get the tank into the house. make sure the doors are wide enough.

Yeah for sure. I need to double check the width of the front door. Thanks for that.

Hmmm, I really like my T5 and Reef Brite Combo but I will keep that in mind. I do like the color and shimmer from the Kessils. pciscott 's tank has light zilla and it has kessils in the middle with reef brites and it looks sick.

Get a ATI 60" (8x80W) :)
If money was no object, I'd get the 8 x80 w power module but not sure I will be able to afford one. I think I may go with a sunpower since it will be hidden.

Anytime dude. I won't have the tank until November though.

I know you can always turn the tank on it's side because it's only 24" tall but the stand, you'll need at least 38" to get in.
Worse comes to worse, we are having a sliding glass door installed at some point the next month or two, so we can bring the tank in through the backyard. I say we as I've already added you to my helper list LMAO

I don't really have a budget in mind. Something with a good efficient pump though that is for sure. I love my ATB, but wouldn't be opposed to trying something else.

I'd say a bubble king supermarin 200 or 250 or a double cone 250, but then all the bubble magus fanboys are gonna gang up on me.

If you're doing a floating canopy you could do any of the popular LED fixtures and T5's as supplements and it'll look clean. Without canopy a 60" sunpower or powermodule.

Someone on other site selling his BK supermarin 250.
For light. I would go with 2 ATI fixtures as well because I think the light is more space out and more room for you to add on other light source.
