I had an inkling that my berghia weren't doing much due to the mini brittle star infestation... great info here!

It took about 4 to 6 weeks to see babies that were bigger then 2mm. When eggs hatch they are so so tiny I definitely couldn’t make them out. Were talking smaller then the tip if a syringe tip.

So I started the breeding tank in late February. I still have my 5 large adults. The berghia that are the baddies are almost at breeding age. These are the berghia I’ll be transferring over to the plastic bins. So I’m about 2.5 months I’m getting reproducing adults. But I do keep my temp on the lower side. I hear if the temp is 80-82 degrees they reproduce faster and grow quick I have set one bin at 81 degrees to see if this is true. I’ll find out in a few months I’d say.

I have a 70g full of aiptaisa. I feed the tank frozen food twice a day. I also have a little trick to cause aiptaisa to split.

I’ve been trying to clean as many aiptaisa out of the 70g frag tank and putting them in the 20g. Going to use the 20g as the aiptaisa prop tank.

I have a lot of amphipods in my tank. Will the berghia still work as I heard amphipods will hunt down their eggs and baby

Looking good, Eric! Keep up the good work. It's nice knowing that there's a local supply of these little guys.

Not really sure if I should go with berghia or give peppermint a try as I have lots of aiptasia cover in the rocks
Yea. I tried peppermints first too, but my mystery wrasse love the taste of peppermint. I tried a file fish and it ate zoas before aiptaisa. Also tried several copperband butterflies but they all died. Berghia was the last resort. I just couldn’t see dropping the money on berghia until I had dropped so much on other failed options. By the time I finally pulled the trigger on berghia I had enough aiptaisa to feed an army.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I have tried peppermint in my old tank before, they do take care of some but never fully remove all aiptasia. The filefish I recently bought start nipping on chalice since day one so I have to remove it. I just put four berghia in my tank and I don’t think I have enough. Especially, I have large pod population. Maybe I will try to order more large berghia.
