The YFL definitely needs to be in 6500K lighting to retain that yellow. In any other spectrum - especially the blues, the colors are drowned out and transitions to green/brown relatively quick. They actually shift colors pretty quick between different spectrums. I’ve collected a handful of different yellow leathers over the years Tonga, Aussie etc and by far the Fiji is most vibrant yellow.

Since reefers started running a blue-er spectrum the YFL became less desirable and became harder to find amongst hobbyist plus the suspension of Fiji corals. But like all corals they make their rounds. Still one of my favorite corals, along with the Koji Wada Pink Nep.

It’s an easy coral to care for. Lots of light - lots of flow. Frags well, but grows slow compare to other leathers.

Here’s a recent YFL import straight from Walt Smith in Fiji.

Cool. Thanks I’ve gotten some softies from him. Most of the time with great results.

Did you have other leathers in your tank or run carbon? High levels of terpenes can stress a toadstool out.

Or if you took too long to move them into the target tank when you picked them up maybe?

Talked to Steve - yes, he has a few mother colonies and can make more frags. Please reach out to him if you want any.

I have no leather corals inside the tank: Haddonis, RBTAs, softies, and SPS so run loads of carbon already. I haven't lost anything in the tank actually, including SPS. As for relocation: I put them immediately in the frag tank, plumbed to the main tank. The healthy one went to @OldReefGuy. Hey, I should blame him -- I only got these leathers because of him! lol

LOL - such a bargain! I heard that they’re going for $185 at Tidal Gardens, IF you can find one.
I was one of the suckers that paid $180 plus shipping from tidal gardens last year...now they are coming in again and price should drop.

I had a 14" Fiji leather for many years, untill a heater failure killed it. I would definatly like to get another one someday.
